Dr. Susan Victoria Lin, MD

Dr Lin is very knowledgeable and knows how to connect with patients. She does have time management issues, but this is because she cares deeply about each patient and wants to give her full attention to each session. I have always felt welcome and cared for when I meet with her. She always gave me options on what medication to take, without ever feeling like medication was my only option. I respect Dr Lin immensely.

Dr.Lin is a complete joke, and should be put under review for negligence and unprofessional behavior. She is perpetually late to appointments, do you have a 3pm appointment? She will see you at 4pm if you are LUCKY. One of the funny things is, whenever she comes into the room after one of her famous extremely long waits... she loves to talk about other patients cases as an excuse to why she is late. She literally goes into detail explaining what was going on with her prior patient , and uses that as excuse to break the ice. She will often leave patients in her office, unattended for long periods of time with blatant HIPAA violations all around. She leaves her computer unlocked, with patient information etc. displayed all over the screen for anyone to be able to peak at. There are often patient files strewn around her office, and within plain sight. Dr.Lin refuses to talk to patients outside of her office/office hours. even if it is a brief call to discuss medication when the patient is… unable to come to the office. After having an emergency surgery, and being bed ridden for several weeks.. i had reached out to Dr.Lin to discuss my medicine and everything that was going on. I called 4 days in a row, leaving messages with the receptionist to have her please call me and explaining that i was recovering from surgery. She NEVER called me back. On the 4th day, i relayed the same message again to the receptionist and this time after being put on hold they came back to the phone and i was told "You need to come in and make an appointment" I explained again that i was bedridden and unable to make it to Josscelyn Center. The receptionist eventually HUNG UP the phone on me. So I call again, Eventually the receptionist picked up and told me "Dr.Lin is just walking out the door right now, She'll call you back by next week". She NEVER called me back. This woman should have her rights to practice medicine taken away, she is potentially dangerous to her clients. Ive never seen such incompetence in my life. STAY AWAY

Difficult to speak to. Scheduling is terrible. She aggravates and frustrates her patients, and is difficult.

I saw Dr. Lin when she was practicing in Gurnee. I was an adolescent that was angry, anxious, and very mentally ill. Dr. Lin was real with me, she was honest, kind, and realistic. I liked her so much that I wanted her to be my regular therapist, I preferred her company over the company of the therapist I was seeing regularly. I looked forward to our monthly visits, not so she could prescribe me medications, but so I could just chat with her about my life, and she listened. If Dr. Lin provided counseling services today, I would drive all the way out there just to see her once a week. She never tried to force medications on me, and listened to my individual thoughts over the feelings of my parents. I am currently not on any medication for the disorder I was diagnosed with. I am a full student at DePaul in Lincoln Park Chicago majoring in Psychology. I have my own apartment, I pay all of my own bills, and I'm an independent student. I deal with far more stress than I did during that time… in my life. Out of every therapist, social worker, psychiatrist, counselor I have ever went to in my life, Dr. Lin was the one that made the lasting impact. And if it wasn't for her personality, and her real attitude. I would not be who I am today. To go from a crazed, self-harming, panic attack having, suicide searching teenager into a calm, humble, and responsible adult is all I could ask for. Triggers still exist in life, but life goes on, and I have Dr. Lin to thank for saving mine.

Dr. Susan Lin has attended to my care for several years now. I find Dr. Lin to be compassionate, professional and trustworthy. She has always treated me as an individual, and is open to the integrative approach. Dr. Lin has cared enough to study my records, ask pertinent questions, and discuss possible medication side effects that other physicians have missed and or looked passed. Anyone would be fortunate to have Dr. Susan Lin as their mental health physician.

Dr. Lin was disorganized and habitually late. She had no respect for me as a patient as she didn't even both to communicate with hospital doctors. Her along with many psychiatrists are ignorant, but she was the bottom of the barrel. Anyone who thinks she was knowledgable, has been on medication too long!
