Dr. Susan Ellen Mcwhirter, MD

Dr. McWhirter has been my daughter's doctor for over 13 years, so unlike the other reviewer who has never even seen her, shows up after-hours and then slams Dr. McWirter with a bad review; I actually have over a decade of experience with Dr. McWirter. I can 100% recommend Dr. McWirter, she is a very knowledgeable and caring doctor. She may have a full schedule, but never rushes her time with us. She is great with kids and being a parent herself she has walked this road and has a very relatable and friendly bedside manner. My girls actually look forward to going to their appointments with her and have never been anxious to go to the doctor because she has made it such a pleasant experience for them. She takes a careful and thorough approach to patient care and even if the situation is serious, she remains calm and reassuring. She has even gone out of her way to consult with a specialist and then personally call me when I had questions concerning a family genetic condition. She is… fabulous and I wouldn't dream of taking my two daughters to anyone else!

Took my child to pediatrics after hours, Dr. McWhirter was doctor on staff. Called and was told to be there by 9:00pm to be seen, arrived 9:02pm, and the doctors call was to turn my child away. Took to Pediatric Acute Care, child was seen and he had strep. Never will use Ped after hours with that doctor there or Rivertown Ped.
