Dr. Susan You Shi, MD

She is very popular in the Chinese community and her office is always full. I am not Chinese but I was referred to her by another OB/Gyn who didn't attend to births anymore (retired). She is a very knowledgeable doctor and she treated and spoke to me professionally. The waiting time in the office is quite long (but totally worth it) so bring snacks and something to read.

Dr. Shi is a wonderful person, but her staff should not be around human being. Staffs are rude, disrespectful, uncaring, and will hang up the phone in your ear while you are trying to ask a question. The lady at their front desk has no people skills, and she is incapable of having a civilized conversation .

Overall she is very pleasant and always answered my questions and concerns. She took her time to explain and was easy to speak to. When I had questions she returned my phone calls. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the midwife I saw the last time I was in her office. This was my first baby and I felt that the doctor who did the procedure should have taken her time to explain what was going on like Dr. Shi had during my pregnancy, this doctor didn't spend too much time with me; once to break my water and then to tell me about the c-section, she didn't give the same calm vibe that Dr. Shi did. I won't be returning here because for my last checkup the midwife was very rude and didn't care to answer my concerns in planning future pregnancies and was even annoyed that I was asking questions. It's too bad because I really wanted to have only one doctor to deliver my babies. This was at the 8th avenue location.

Dr. Shi came recommended by my long time gyn. She and her partner were pleasant and eased my mind while pregnant for the first time. When sent to Maimonides medical center for tests, I was told by staff how much they liked Dr. Shi and how well she teated them and her patients. Nicest and most professional, highly recommend.

First time I went here, I thought I was going to see the gynecologist, instead I saw a midwife. They didn't even notify methat the doctor wasn't here. Next, I waited for more than a hour, going in to get vitals check by a medical assistant and then I had a pap smear done by the midwife. she was nice, but then diagnoise me with some cyst syndrome. based on what, doing a pap smear and without getting the results yet? Now I go back asking them if I can get my hormonal balance blood test because I have irregular period and the doctor is at the front desk saying that if I'm not pregnant, she and the office cannot see me. I thought a gynecologist is a women doctor and I'm not mistaken, I have irregular periods and I think that's a women problem. anyway, see this doctor if you just came from China and don't know anything because this is one of the worst doctor ever.
