Dr. Susan Steffen, MD

Amazing. Thorough. Extremely knowledgeable. She has been my gynecologist for years and performed several of my surgeries. She is so down to earth, easy to talk to and very informative. Absolutely the best doctor I know.

She was good, however, she didn't take care of my physical pain that went along with my diagnose, so I'm sitting here in pain.

I was looking for a female gynecologist. I am older than 50 and wanted someone who specialized in menopausal women and a female doctor at this point in my life. I have never had such a positive experience at a doctor's office. The visit was friendly and chatty and she really took time to listen to my concerns. She asked questions, got to know me, and spent time with me as we worked on a plan to deal with my particular situation. And I had prompt follow-ups. Not only did I feel physically healed and helped but mentally healed and helped after my appt. Be aware that her specialty is menopausal women. Prior to a procedure, she was good to visit with me and talk with me. I had thorough follow-ups afterwards. She has called to follow up. Her nurses are excellent to take my calls and discuss concerns I have had. I have never had such satisfying doctor's visits. I highly recommend Dr. Steffen if you are post baby years for all your health concerns.

I had an ablation done in 2010. By 2011, there were problems with it and my previous doctor had me take progesterone. About a year later that stopped working, so I went back. My doctor told me I needed a hysterectomy. But he was very rude and I had little confidence in him, so I went looking for the best surgeon for my procedure. Dr. Steffens came highly recommended. She is very straight forward, but totally willing to answer all of my questions. My surgery went great! She listened to me and did all that I wanted. And I recovered quickly with very little pain! She was great!

I'll start with the positive...Let me say, if I could give this woman NO stars I would. But since I must, the staff was very friendly and I got in to my appointment immediately after check in, no wait time which was very nice. But, to be honest, I left this appointment in tears. This was the first and only time I will ever visit this office. I am a 24 year old woman, 2 months postpartum and I was diagnosed with pelvic organ prolapse, which has been very traumatic for me because I didn't know that this condition even EXISTED. This happened to me 5 weeks postpartum after my first and only child, and I didn't know what was going on. It felt like my insides were falling out. I called the midwife on call from my previous clinic and she recommended that I go to the E.R. to get checked out. While there a nurse told me a horror story about my previous clinic and suggested that I go somewhere else to get this fixed. I found Dr. Steffen online and from her reviews thought she would be excellent.… She absolutely WAS NOT. She was so condescending, I waited a month to see her and it seemed like from the very beginning I was being rushed out of her office. The first thing she said to me when I met her was "Why didn't you go to your previous OB?" in a very stern way. I was caught off guard but explained myself. Then she said, "Well, I'll tell you right now I'm NOT going to fix this." I mean what the ??? I had never met this woman before. How unprofessional. I also had some other concerns and questions I wanted to have addressed before she rushed out of the room, and she would literally cut me off and give me one sentence answers, and basically acted like nothing was wrong. I felt like my visit was such a waste of time and money. She described my prolapse as "not that bad"...Um, hello, when it is falling out the opening how is it NOT THAT BAD?!? I never write reviews like this but I wanted to warn future patients to stay FAR, FAR away!! Save your time and take your money elsewhere.

After suffering with female issues for years, I was so relieved to find Dr. Steffen. Over the last 15 years, I have retold my story many times to different doctors and for the first time, I felt like I was heard. I appreciated her way of not mixing words. She tells it like it is, but with a manner that lets you know she really cares. How many doctors make you feel like they really care? After my surgery and discharge, I left the hospital with a sense of excitement for the new life she had given me. I still have a few weeks left in recovery, but already my pain has gone. If you are looking for an OB/GYN, Dr. Steffen's office is the place to go. Thank you Dr. Steffen.. I plan on a great, pain free life!

Positives: This doctor was very impressive in how she explained my medical problems and options. Her exam technique was top rate and therefore she kept me as comfortable as possible. She is the first doctor in 25 years that told me about my body and why I was having certain problems. She also is going to personally take care of follow-up that might be more difficult for a NP or PA to do. She mostly does consultations, complications, surgery, etc., vs. routine exams and obstetrics. Even her medical report/record was highly detailed and accurate.Negatives: She is busy.Recommendation: I highly recommend her for complicated problems, consultations, second opinions, surgery, etc.
