Dr. Spiess has a wonderful manner and takes her time to explain absolutely everything. She listened to my request for no anesthesia both times I went to her for treatments and explained every detail of what was going on during the tests. I think she is one of the best doctors around. The appointment, hospital and diagnosis was easy and actually pleasant.

Dr. Spiess seems to be all about procedures and then quickly loses interest in what is wrong. I ended up in the hospital due to dehydration from colitis she diagnosed and supposedly was treating and never heard a peep from her. Needless to say I am seeing another gastroenterologist who is actually willing to spend time talking to the patient and working out a plan for my care. Like other doctors in northshore medical group I am sure she is fine if you don't have anything wrong with you. If you are sick watch out!!

Dr. Spiess was never interested in going beyond an upper endoscopy to figure out what causes my intense heartburn and trouble digesting certain foods. With my results coming back negative, she sent me home with an over the counter prescription for heartburn and was never curious about what exactly causes my symptoms. In addition, she never explained to me that she would be using a type of general anesthesia which is only covered by insurance in cases of surgery. Because the procedure is not considered surgery, her "little omission" resulted in over $1,100 in out of pocket costs. Simply...a not caring enough doctor.

After waiting 2 months to get in to even meet with this dr., after having tests done by her in the hospital - her office cancelled my appointment and expected me to wait 2 additional months before seeing her!! She only sees patients one day a week and this is unacceptable!

Dr. Spiess spent a tremendous amount of time during my visit. She has an excellent bedside manner. I would highly recommend her.
