Dr. Suzan R Merten, MD

I have a whole cancer team, and Dr. Merten is the weakest and least compassionate member of that team. She has been lacking in compassion, rude and doesn’t seem to do much to help me. Furthermore, she withholds my anti-tumor medication if I don’t come in every three months, but I can’t get anyone to answer the phone or return my call to make an appointment. She left me waiting in an exam room for 45 minutes on one occasion and in the main waiting room for an hour another time. When I reminded her that she’d kept me waiting 45 minutes the last time, she basically called me a liar. Worst bedside manner ever. She gets away with it as Blue Ridge Cancer Care is independent of Carilion or Lewis Gale and is one of the owners of the business. I’d give 0 stars if possible.

She has knowledge that is true but her compassion is lacking alot!!! Very disappointed.

Dr. Merten has been wonderful with my Mom, caring and compassionate, easy to understand and thorough, exactly what you need from an Oncologist. I was super impressed with her bedside anner when she consulted at RMH.
