Dr. Suzanne Lee Frye, MD

It appears the good reviews were written by the doctor herself because there weren't this many good reviews just a few years ago. The good reviews are not real. Please don't be fooled. Please protect yourself and go to another urologist. It has been some years since I saw Suzanne Frye, but I felt compelled to write a review because my one and only visit with her was traumatic. I have a little bit of urinary incontinence due to muscle weakness on one side of my body, and so my primary care recommended that I see a urologist Suzanne Frye. Dr Frye told me to lay down on an exam table with my feet up in stirrups, so I could not see what was happening since I was reclined on the exam table. Suddenly and without consent/without warning, I felt a cold object enter my urethra. My body lifted from the table and seized due to the sudden pain and violation. I was stunned but wanted to keep as still as possible since something was just stabbed into my urethra and I didn't want a lot of damage to… occur. I felt Dr Frye squirt a cold liquid inside me. I was in excruciating pain and shocked. She then just silently and calmly walked away from me, leaving me in shock on the exam table. From the next room, she yelled out to clean up and see her at her office after I cleaned up. I was shocked. I went to the bathroom and tried to urinate, but blood came out (which I had never had before) and I was in excruciating pain. I had a burning sensation in my urethra. I was so stunned I could barely speak. When I went back into her office, she handed me a sample of uribel (and it was expired) and said to take it if I felt pain when urinating. (I hadn't had pain, ever before, while urinating until she did this barbaric, unconsented procedure.) She did not even explain what it was called or what it was for. I was so traumatized I called another urologist right after I left her office, and that urologist knew Dr Frye and said that she was "notorious for doing unconsented cystoscopies and so he gets a lot of patients that come from her to him" after exactly the same thing I had just experienced. He instructed me to the go to the emergency room due to the bleeding and pain I was having, so I did. When I got home, I Googled Suzanne Frye, and there was a past patient who actually set up an entire blog website detailing the horrible experience she had with Dr Frye. What happened to that past patient was far worse than what had happened to me. There were several other appalling reviews of Dr Frye's barbaric and callous behavior and acts. I would like to warn the public to stay away from this psychotic doctor. Other urologists told me that there was no reason to do a cystoscopy on me because my condition only required a visual and manual exam, but Dr Frye likes to put in claims for cystoscopies and other unnecessary invasive surgical procedures so that she can charge over a thousand dollars for one visit instead of charging $80 for a non-invasive exam. You would not know what she will do because you are in a compromising, vulnerable position, laying back on an exam table with legs open / feet in stirrups, and you can't see what Dr Frye is doing down there. She will do unconsented procedures just to bill an excessive amount of money for herself and have no care / no consideration for you. I was left with bleeding and excruciating burning pain in my urethra and bladder and, later, a recurrent UTI because Dr Frye introduced the cystoscope into my bladder and urethra without my knowledge and without my permission. Another urologist told me the bladder is a sterile environment, but it no longer was for me since Dr Frye had done that unconsented cystoscopy. Dr Frye should be put in jail.

I have been a patient of Dr. Frye for 14 years. My condition is chronic and was hard to diagnose. It has caused me extreme pain/discomfort on a daily basis for 35 years. Bottom line is, when Dr. Frye says we're just going to have to deal with it, she knows what she's talking about. We've tried many different approaches but finally settled on medication, PT and diet. I'm willing to take responsibility on my end and she's willing to keep writing the prescription for a drug she figured out would help-and it does. Other urologists have been by turns actually sadistic, literally filthy or so grandiose that I practically ran out of their offices. I appreciate that Dr. Frye does not pretend to have all of the answers. She's is pleasant, friendly and as gentle as possible. Her staff is mostly friendly and helpful though over the years there have been a couple of burps. I would recommend her to anyone who is seeking a knowledgable, reasonable doctor.

I just saw Dr. Frye for a long-standing bladder problem. I had seen other urologists in the past over the years for this as well. Seeing a urologist has never been my favorite thing, but I think consulting with Dr. Frye is probably as good as it gets. She really listened to what I said and was very knowledgeable about my problem. I left with a whole new understanding of my bladder symptoms and a plan for what to do for them. The testing that I needed, which was minimal, was done much more gently than testing I had with urologists in the past. Nothing was unpleasant at all. Also, her staff was magnificent- they were very caring and helped me with the referral I needed. Overall, this was an extremely positive experience. Now I have a urologist I've connected with for ongoing care.

GREAT UROLOGIST! My elderly mother has been a patient of Dr. Frye for the last several years. I had initially taken her to see Dr. Frye because another doctor had recommended surgery. My mother and I were both grateful to find out that her problem could be managed without surgery. Every time we go to her office, the staff welcomes us. They are very helpful. My mother likes going for her visits there . . and we never have to wait. Dr. Frye is so caring with my mother. We're very glad we found her.

For a practice that claims to focus on women's urology, Frye has no concern for her patients opinion. I would hope that after so much time as a doctor she would realize that doing two incredibly painful and uncomfortable tests does not equal a diagnosis. She is another new York city doctor who has no time for her patients and believes a negative culture over the pain her patient is describing. I have had pain for sixth months and her suggestion was to take pain medication When I told her I would rather deal with the problem then take a pill. Her response was many women have a similar pain and we just don't know why. Sorry. For any women who experience urological discomfort do not go to her. There are other kinder doctors who besides explaining everything to you will listen and help you understand what's actually going on down there. Your feelings are real and there are ways to solve your discomfort. I left Frye's office in much more pain then i had gone in with and furious that… a female doctor could tell me that my pain was not real.

Dreaded the visit but was put immediately at ease by the staff and cozy office. Dr Frye is so kind and and skilled that I trusted her immediately. I feel so blessed in having such a wonderful Dr.

I went to see Dr. Frye for a very distressing urination problem. She was very easy to talk to about this. She really understood what was wrong. I was terrified to go to my appointment because I had read and heard from friends that going to a urologist involves unpleasant testing. I did need some special tests done, but Dr. Frye was so pleasant and gentle that the testing was not uncomfortable at all. I was really relieved. I should have gone to her years ago. The office and her staff are very nice also. No one should delay going to this urology office.

This doctor literally saved my life! I had what seemed to me like a meaningless finding on a urine test. She sent me for a radiology test which I cancelled a couple times, but she kept calling me to insist that I get the test. I finally did get the test and a small cancer was found. She then referred me to another amazing doctor for successful treatment for it. She's such a warm wonderful caring physician- a rare find! I'm so grateful I was under her thorough care.

I can't rave enough about my recent visit with Dr. Frye. She really made me feel at ease discussing my problem. I had seen some other doctors over the years for the same problem, and I finally have an understanding of my symptoms. She was very professional, but also personable and caring. The testing was thorough and gentle. The office is very nice and the staff is helpful. Very recommendable.
