Dr. Sydney Timmer-Murillo, PhD

Sydney Timmer-Murillo, PhD, is an assistant professor of surgery (trauma & critical care) at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She is a licensed clinical health psychologist and provides mental health treatment to those who experience trauma and traumatic injury. Her translational and applied research examines factors that contribute to quality of life and recovery after trauma promoting health equity and early access to treatment, particularly for individuals who experience interpersonal violence and gun violence.I advocate for a collaborative approach with each patient, where we jointly identify treatment goals and formulate a personalized treatment plan to address patient concerns. Likewise, building a strong therapeutic alliance with patients and using effective interventions with empirical support is crucial for fostering meaningful change.
