Dr. Sylvia W. Lim, MD, FAAP

Sylvia W. Lim, MD, FAAP, is Medical Director, Teen Parenting/Teen-Toddler Program, Family Care Center, Course Director, Physician Assistant Training and Associate Director, Academic General Pediatrics Fellowship Program at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein. She is also Associate Professor, Clinical Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Lim is a general pediatrician who has a special interest in adolescent medicine and faculty wellness.After earning her Bachelor of Science from the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education at the City University of New York in 1989, Dr. Lim earned her Doctor of Medicine from New York University School of Medicine in 1991. She completed her pediatric residency at New York University Medical Center in 1994, followed by a general academic pediatrics fellowship at the same institution in 1996.Dr. Lim’s research focuses on adolescent reproductive health, sexually transmitted diseases, adolescent mental health …and faculty wellness. She is a clinical and research mentor to medical students, residents, fellows and junior faculty. She has been investigator and principal investigator on a number of research projects and has given numerous national and international invited presentations. Dr. Lim’s work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, books, chapters and review articles and shared through abstracts presented at national and international meetings. Dr. Lim is also a member of the Montefiore Adolescent Primary Care Initiative Steering Committee, where she helps develop policies to improve the quality and access to adolescent healthcare.Dr. Lim is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Academic Pediatric Association, where she served as Co-Chair of the Wellbeing and Vitality Special Interest Group for three years. Dr. Lim has received numerous awards for her work. In 2022, she was inducted into the Leo M. Davidoff Society for her outstanding teaching of medical students. She has been named in New York Magazine’s “Best Doctors” and Castle Connolly’s “New York Metro Area’s Top Doctors” for multiple years. She was also named in Castle Connolly’s “Exceptional Women in Medicine” for multiple years. In 2025, Dr. Lim was named in Castle Connolly’s “Top Asian American and Pacific Islander Doctors”.
