Dr. Tahir Syed Ali, MD

My daughter had an appointment with Dr. Ali a couple of months ago. She has suffered from severe sinus infections and allergies. She also has been unable to breath successfully using her left nostril. A CT Scan was ordered for her. Upon her appointment, she was allergy tested via both arms. We were then told that she would not be able to transfer the allergy injections to another physician (she is going to transfer to another university) and that she would have to begin this process all over again. This is not true. They tried to push the "drops" which are taken underneath the tongue. These are not FDA approved. They wanted a cash only payment and these are very expensive. The icing on the cake was the fact that Dr. Ali did not even let us look at her CT Scan nor did he discuss her results with us. He basically stated that "this surgery will not work for her". That was it. End of story. My daughter went down and got her CT Scan and report. Needless to say, in the end, we got a second… opinion. Glad we did. Enough said.

I was greeted with a smile at the front desk then i was very pleased with Dr Ali. Very friendly. He took time to answer all of my questions. I didn't feel rushed. I highly recommend this ENT to anyone that has sinus problems.

Got recommended this doctor from Dr. White on Berry. My mother went here for a CT or MRI on her neck. The visits here were a waste of time. The receptionist was rude,so was Dr. Ali. Dr. was very impatient, never gave a concrete answer to her questions or what she had. No diagnosis, just wanted to keep making consultations and charge their fee. I believe this treatment was from my mother not having insurance. But I wouldn't request a service I couldn't afford.

Dr. Ali answered all my questions in terms I could understand. He was very thorough in his explanations showing me exactly what my problem was and where it was located in my throat. After a surgical procedure, he called to see how I was doing and followed up several days later with the pathology report. He has called me for a follow-up to discuss future treatment.

Dr ali misdiagnosed me.. his bedside manner was terrible.. he was rushed and only spent few minutes with a new patient.. worst doctor visit I have ever had.

I find the previous reviews so disheartening that people would write a bad review based on their insurance benefits that has nothing to do with their medical care. Itâ??s always the patientsâ?? responsibility to know their benefits and what is and is not covered. My visit with the office was for recurrent sinusitis. I called the office on a Friday and had an appointment Monday, so not a long wait. The front office staff explained to me my insurance benefits that they pulled of the insurance web site. My plan is all deductible, so I had to pay for the office visit and a nasal scope as well. Yes, $233 was billed for the office visit and $429 was billed for the Nasal Endoscopy. The amount billed to your insurance is not what youâ??re expected to pay; there is a contract adjustment with each insurance company that drops price dramatically. I paid 154.94 for the office visit and 285.44 for the nasal scope, I was given antibiotics and was told to do a cat scan in 2 weeks so that all the… infection would be treated and whatever was underlying would show on the scan so they know how to treat. The cash price for all offices are always cheaper than filling insurance, but then that amount would not apply to your deductible/out of pocket. I would rather be told up front what I am expected to pay then to get a surprise in the mail months later. The staff thoroughly explains upfront what is to be done, I had to sign a notice that the nasal scope was going to be performed and also sign the fee ticket at the end with all charges to be billed, so I knew what was being done and billed. The care and attention I received from all the staff and physician was impeccable, always friendly, and greets you with a smile. Remember you are going to a specialist not a primary care or walk-in clinic. You go to a Specialist because previous treatment from your physician has not helped and you need more specialized care and treatment.

Be sure to ask for the pricing for someone who does not have insurance (even if you do) because I was told afterward that they charge less for those without insurance. I came in with a picture from my dentist - maybe he saw something in my sinus from a dental xray - $233 for the office visit and another $429 for a nasal scope all of which took much less than 1 minute then off to get a CT (another $325) - someone (not him) called me back the next day and said "nothing there - don't know what your dentist saw" and that was it. Would like to have had a consultation to determine if I wanted to spend more than $800 but the front desk said when I questioned the cost (up front) "you have a choice not to be seen" by Dr. Ali - "we scope everyone who comes in" So be prepared to pay for an office visit $233 and a scope $429 before anyone even knows why you came in, and of course when there is nothing to be seen by the nasal scope be prepared… to go get a CT also. The front office girl was very defensive when I called to give feedback and kept repeating silly things like "the amount you paid was your deductible" (like it was not real money if it is part of your deductible) and "aren't you glad you only paid this much, now you know everything is fine" (WHAT???) she will probably run his practice into the ground. So much more, but I am out of energy on this - time to move on. Would not recommend!!!!!

Nobody likes going to the doctor less than me, however, i can say that this office experience was different. I had 3 appointments here. Each time i was greeted with a very friendly smile from Maria. She also explained to my daughter our insurance benefits very thoroughly. We had lots of questions and she answered them with confidence and patience. The questions that she didn't know, she promptly got the answers to. Melody was my point of contact in the back. She was always positive and very courteous. I wish my regular doctors office was this friendly. In fact, i told them they could learn a lot just from visiting Dr. Ali's office. Dr. Ali is very lucky to have these two ladies on his staff. I hope that i won't have to make a return trip, but if i do, i know i am in good hands here.
