Dr. Tamara Beth Weisman, DO

I saw Dr. Weisman twice simply to discuss going back on a low dose of Wellbutrin, at the advice of my therapist. She consistently looked at her phone throughout both appointments and had a flat personality (I get that psychiatrists are trained, but her demeanor was unusually removed and distant). As I only needed her to prescribe the Wellbutrin, which I had already taken several years ago, I didn't feel the need to have an engaged psychiatrist and I didn't want to bother to find someone else. When I called to obtain a refill prescription a few months later, her voicemail stated that she was not available due to a family emergency. Another psychiatrist's name was given to contact, which I did, and this person never returned my calls. I had to scurry around and get my primary care physician to refill my prescription, which was no small task given that she was booking out several months for general physical appointments. This was several months ago. I've never received any… notification or information about my file or who to follow up with. This isn't a big deal to me; I wouldn't have stayed with her anyway had I needed to establish a productive relationship with a psychiatrist, but for someone who may have needed to have her available, I found it extremely unprofessional. At the least, she could have had her staff person reach out to each of her patients. I only leave reviews when I have a positive statement to make. But in this case, I feel my experience may help others. If you do choose to see her, I strongly advise you to raise this issue with her so that you are fully informed. I'm sorry for whatever family emergency presented itself to her. But It is important in a relationship with a psychiatrist that you know they are responsible and professional, and don't leave you hanging.
