Dr. Tanya A Mayfield

Refused to prescribe antibiotic knowing child had RSV as a baby; family member currently had pneumonia and another bronchitis; both being treated with antibiotics. Child suffered for four days until urgent care dr. prescribed appropriate meds. When contacted on a Friday at 4:45 pm...no one available unless 911 issue. America deserves better than this kind of non-healthcare. So frustrating.

Have been taking my child to her for 16 years. Great bedside manors, willing to listen and explain in terms we understand. Never in a rush.

Smart, knowledgable, experienced, and caring. I am not the easiest mom to deal with and I have always felt that Dr. Mayfield put my children's welfare first.

She is great with our son. Very caring and effectively communicates with us.

Quick exam...and you are out of there. No follow up but sore throat does not really require a follow up call.

We started using Dr. Mayfield for our baby boy as she was assigned by our healthcare provider. We had a full term healthy baby boy so were only in for the 2 week check up and then the proceeding shot visits/check-ups. I thought she was very friendly and courteous and respectful of our son. She was always gentle and with him as well. The only reason I would suggest newer moms look elsewhere is because Dr. Mayfield wasn't very easy to talk to. I would bring in questions and she kind of blew them off as if what I was asking wasn't important (although it obviously was to me or I wouldn't have been asking). She also told me information that directly contradicted current studies. She has an "old school" mentality and that did not mesh well for the more natural momma that I strive to be. She also didn't seem to respect some of my choices which I did not appreciate. Overall when we saw her she basically made us feel like we were just another number on a page and that she could care less… about my son-he was "just another patient" to her. And while that may be true for every doctor, it would be nice if she didn't make us feel that way.

Dr mayfield was my children's pediatrician for many years. When making the decision to move to a different state leaving her was the hardest thing to accept. She is a remarkable doctor, a reliable friend, and a compassionate human being. I feel she did everything possible to put the health of my children first and she always did the needed research and plan of action to insure they stayed healthy. She is by far the best pediatrician I ever had (and I have 6 kids) I will always have nothing but respect for her and her practice.

Dr. Mayfield is very knowledgeable and caring. I never feel rushed when asking questions. I would definitely recommend her.
