More worried about pocketing appointment money than a patients dignity and self respect. I had 2 expired anti-fungal prescriptions that needed refilling, 1 for a special shampoo and 1 for a face cream. I had not been to the office for a year and she wanted me to go in. The day of the appointment it was cancelled because of the tropical storm. When I called to reschedule they couldn't fit me in for 2 months+. 3 days before my appointment they called me to reschedule. In the meantime, she didn't bother to consider that the fungal problem is still on going. That a patient has dignity and self respect and may become embarrassed to go out in public. One would think that any doctor worth their salt would give a one time renewal of the prescriptions to keep the ongoing problem at bay until the appointment. (They are not controlled substances.) Not Tara Whelan. Inconsiderate doctors with tunnel vision are a problem. It's a shampoo and a skin cream. So, for the last 3 months I've had to… tolerate chronic problems with dandruff and my face peeling. Now, they cancelled the appointment again. And I won't go back to this "doctor". I am betting I can get a walk-in treatment center doctor to prescribe it or use a online doctor service.

I have never done one of these reviews before but I was so disappointed with this dermatologist. In my short time as a patient with this office, the staff told me I didn’t return phone calls when I had, they frequently shut off phones well before the scheduled times, and they assign you your next appt time instead of asking what works best for you. The final straw for me was when I was told it was too much work to file with insurance to cover a medicine that I needed. They had tried once and after six months I asked if they would do it again only to be told that it was too much work for them. I cannot imagine walking into my place of employment and saying, “this is too much work, I don’t think I am going to do this today or any day.”

I picked the first appointment of the day hoping to manage my time effectively, and be able to do some other things on my schedule. Unfortunately Tara Whelan had other ideas.. She finally showed up about 45 minutes late with wet hair, for her first appointment of the day. this was my second appointment with her. now I understand why she was late for my first appointment. She starts her day off running 45 minutes late, and has to play catch up at the expense of her patients.
