Dr. Tejal Thakkar, MD

I see Dr. Thakkar at the Long Beach VA Hospital in the arthritis clinic. I always see an intern before the resident, Dr. Thakkar trains the interns. I've never met a intern at the VA I didn't like. The interns review my records and ask me all the routine questions and I kind of use them to try to read into the Dr.'s notes of which I'm not privileged. My reading of my last intern, very nice young women, was that Dr. Thakkar was on the case. I've come back from a sever case of psoriatic arthritis and I credit the VA with helping me do that. I don't see much of Dr. Thakkar at my appointment but I know see is a good Dr. and talented teacher and I'd hate to lose her to private practice.

Very personable and caring. She is one of the first doctors that diagnosed my mother's medical problems. Since seeing her my mom has felt much better and is enjoying her life much more.

Need more experience. Not friendly.

This doctor appeared to be indisposed since the moment she walked in the room. She hardly spoke and when she did sounded defensive and insecured. She is very plain with no facial expression and showed no interest in what she was doing. The exam was very simple like listening to lungs and touching with two fingers. She never asked pertinent questions like how long I had the problem or level of pain. She then stepped out the room just to come back to hand out a lab slip. At the end she didn't give a possible diagnosed, her opinion of what it might be or plan of care. It could be that she is very inexperience and just starting private practice but definite she needs to improve her speach and facial expression. There are real physicians out there that are competent, knowledgeable and interested in helping the patient. It's unfortunate that she is in health care. I wouldn't recommend this doctor.

She didnt give a diagnosed or suggested what it could be. She then stepped out the room just to come back to hand out a lab slip. It could be that she is very insecure, inexperience and just starting private practice but definite she needs to improve. There are real physicians out there that are knowledgeable, enjoy being doctors and are interested in helping out the patient. Its unfortunate that she is in health care and working for UCI who is supposed to have good physicians. I would never recommend this physician.
