I am writing to provide feedback on my recent experience at The Women's Center in Winter Park where my girlfriend underwent an IUD replacement. While we appreciate the medical care provided, there were certain aspects of the visit that left us concerned and wanting to share our experience. My girlfriend is autistic, and we were disappointed that no accommodations were offered or considered during her visit. Additionally, despite her request for support, I was not allowed in the room due to your policy. Given her disability, we hoped for more flexibility in this regard. Moreover, my girlfriend requested a gas sedative, which was not administered until well into the IUD replacement process. This delay added to her discomfort and anxiety during the procedure. When I was eventually allowed into the room, I found my girlfriend in tears, experiencing significant fear. Unfortunately, Dr. Temitope Oshodi did not pause or communicate effectively during this distressing moment. Following the… procedure, my girlfriend, despite being emotionally articulate about her fear, discomfort, and anxiety, encountered a defensive and unsympathetic reaction from the medical staff. I share this feedback with the hope that it contributes to better training for handling autistic patients and prompts the consideration of improved accommodations for those with disabilities. Our intention is not to criticize but to highlight areas where enhancements could be made to ensure a more compassionate and supportive environment for all patients. I have been extremely displeased with the service by this provider. Every time that I have seen her, she has always been at least 45 minutes late....Always. The last time that I saw her, she didn't appear as though she wanted to even discuss the results of my surgery. I overheard her say to the nurses at the table, "Let me go ahead and talk to this girl," after she was already 45 minutes late to the appointment. In addition, a nurse came in before her asking if the Doctor had come in to see me and if she had spoken to me about returning to my room. I told her that I hadn’t spoken to her at all. The nurse then asked me what paperwork, I was filling out. I told her, "Transfer paperwork." The doctor was so late that I decided to fill out Medical Release forms to go to another clinic. For the surgery, neither the doctor or a nurse told me what to expect for my surgery, like that I had to fast several hours beforehand, etc. I had to google all of this information. I also didn't get… any explanation about what to do after the surgery. I now have an infection from the surgery, and this wasn't explained that this could happen. In addition, she forgot to send medication to my pharmacy to clear up this infection. I couldn’t call her or the clinic directly and had to call someone from scheduling to get her to send the prescription for me. When explaining the symptoms that I was experiencing from the infection, she indicated that she didn't think this could have happened due to the surgery, but that is the only way I could have gotten this infection. She kept the photos from the surgery in her bag to show and didn't have them in my file or digitally. Just a mess. I was expecting more from this Clinic and from this doctor.

She is a very good Dr. I like her very much. She always has the time and the patience to answer all my questions ??

I would strongly advise you not to seek care at any of The Women’s Center locations. Let me share my experience with you…. I had an IUD put in a few years back, but after consulting with my primary doctor, it was determined I needed to remove the IUD at this time. I scheduled an appointment with the office to have it removed but ran into issue after issue. First, I found out when the IUD was originally inserted, the “strings” were cut too short by the doctor so it was unable to be removed. Because of this, I needed to schedule a follow-up appointment because they needed special equipment to remove it. During that visit, it became clear that there was little communication between the staff. This second appointment turned into an ultrasound to look at something else, and when I brought up that I was here to have the IUD removed, I was told I’d have to schedule another appt because the person who would do that procedure was not there. She could see I was visibly frustrated, so she… attempted to remove it during this 2nd appt as well. (This is a brand new doctor too, never have met or seen her before this appointment). Once again I was told the strings were cut too short and I needed to schedule yet another appointment. The 3rd appointment is when things really got weird. The good news is they knew I was there to use the video equipment, the bad news is they didn’t understand why it was needed for an IUD removal. Here is where it gets even better. My time in the room was a nightmare. The assistant appeared to have no idea what she was doing. They were not prepared at all. The doctor (Dr. Temitope Oshodi, yet another new doctor that I’ve never met before) asked the assistant for various instruments or items, and she had to leave the room several times to get the requested items. Meanwhile, we are in a pandemic and the assistant leaves and comes back to the room several times without ever changing her gloves. Somewhere in the middle of her re-entering the room, I was livid and I finally asked her to at least change her gloves. Yet she had to leave and come back again for another time after that. Not to mention, I am completely exposed every time she is opening and closing the door. But finally, the IUD was removed and I was relieved to get out of there as quickly as possible. A week later, I received a bill for this procedure totaling $2,700, of which I’m responsible for just over $2,000. This procedure took no more than 20 minutes. That’s right, I got the privilege of paying $2,000 to correct a mistake they made when initially installing the IUD in the first place. It was coded as a “surgery” by the doctor. They required me to have 3 different appointments to make this happen because of their errors, which required me to miss work 3 different times. The best part, I was never told how much this procedure was going to cost. It’s normal operating practice for a doctor to share the cost prior to agreeing to a procedure. At no point was I told this was considered a “surgery”. Had I known this was the cost, I would’ve either looked for alternatives or filed a claim, because actually the whole reason I had to have this “surgery” was because of their error!!! Shame on you, The Women’s Center, for treating your patients like this. Shame on Dr. Temitope Oshodi, for performing in such an unsterile way and for feeling okay with coding the whole procedure as a surgery. Made me feel at ease. Explained my diagnosis in a way I understood. She actually called me back with my results which I have never had a doctor do. I have found my doctor for life.

She made me feel at ease and answered all my questions. She was very knowledgeable . I would refer friends and family to her.

This doctor is awesome and so helpful. I would defiantly go back to her.

Dr Oshodi was great. She explained clearly and set me up for an ultrasound the same day so I wouldn't have to make an extra trip. She also called me a few days later to go over my results. I would go back and definitely refer her to my friends.
