Tenley Bands, OD

Tenley Bands, O.D. grew up in Annapolis, MD. She graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then received her Master of Biomedical Sciences from Rutgers University School of Graduate Studies. Dr. Bands then attended Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL where she obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree. After Optometry school, she completed a residency at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Lexington, KY with an emphasis on Low Vision and Ocular Disease.Today, Dr. Bands provides comprehensive eye care. She specializes in ocular disease and low vision. Dr. Bands loves to travel. She enjoys skiing, sailing and spending time with her English Springer Spaniel, Cisco. Dr. Bands interest in Optometry was initiated from a childhood experience. Her grandmother was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration by her Optometrist. This resonated with Dr. Bands and influenced her decision to pursue a career in Optometry.
