She urged me to come twice a week instead of just once, and well, just said that some people do better with medication, and before I knew it I had a few different prescriptions. Which was nightmarish. She has a big smile, and loads of sympathy and pity. Shame. It was disgusting and made insanity seem noble or great. It seemed like she wanted to hear about how awful my symptoms were, smile big, and get pleasure from it. It seemed a bit insidious and even - well - psychopathic and destructive. I now see a nice awesome lady who doesn't seem so enamoured with insanity and misery. Terry seemed to encourage and relish in suffering and hopelessness. A pretty disturbing experience. As I said - I now see someone else - and they're pretty great, open minded, and very kind and compassionate. If you want to feel like a soulless thing - like a bag of chemicals to be experimented on - then come to Terry. I know you probably feel worn out, vulnerable, even desperate and willing to try… anything. Looking for help. Terry's big smile is almost convincing. You can go to her and see for yourself. Maybe you'll enjoy her or get something else out of it. You very well could. Maybe you'll see my experience as insanity (the problem with meeting someone who seems malevolent in the mental health care field). Even paranoid or delusional. It's up to you. But just be careful of the temptations of sympathy (and you could use some) and the desire to cast off responsibility (it's overwhelming) and to just embrace insanity and meaninglessness, and to trust the cultural authority figure, and try what they think is good - because they portray that they just want to help - and that good science is on their side. There isn't. Ask for a test that shows you where your brain chemistry is - as opposed to healthy brain chemistry. And then for a test that shows you your balanced brain chemistry after drugs. There isn't one, and potent drugs should not be taken on good faith that these people know what they're talking about and care about you. I can't caution you enough. Even when it feels like it is all way too much, and you're tired of thinking, and you just want some help and relief and to be able to function in this demanding culture. And it may dawn on you that this is a pretty insidious culture - even if not by any individual design. Well, all I can say is - revolution! And - do what you want. I will say this - a "good therapist" is very, very, very, very rare. The primary job is to adjust you to culture, even if culture is unnatural, unnecessary, and not exactly an intelligent design. Psychiatry is a dogmatic tradition with a lot of political and financial power.
