Dr. Thanh U Barbie, MD

Terrible. Withheld information and lied to me, gaslit me, didn’t care about my pain, didn’t seem to understand how gravity affects fat/breast tissue, didn’t listen, kept repeating herself over and over (to convince me to believe her bad info?), didn’t read her own notes on my case and so neglected to follow through on important treatment deatails. Finally, despite my MULTIPLE risks for blood clot after surgery, she did nothing - not even emphasize the need to move around. I ended up in the ER with a pulmonary embolism (life threatening situation). I am furious with her and with myself for not changing surgeons when I started having doubts. There are so many surgeons in the area, find someone else.

Dr. Barbie was a wonderful doctor, I loved her from the moment I met her. Patient , caring , well-informed with a lovely bedside manner. She did two surgeries for me . I was completely well informed and results were terrific . would recommend her in a heartbeat!

An amazing Doctor

My husband and I drove from Upstate New York to receive breast cancer care from Dr. Thanh Barbie, Surgical Oncologist. Dr. Barbie took all the time we needed to answer questions and provide options, and she was reachable, if needed, before and after surgery. Dr. Barbie stopped to say hello shortly before my surgery. Soon after, I was wheeled into the operating room and the surgical team gently transferred me to the operating table while speaking to me the whole time. They did their quality assurance "countdown", checking that every detail was in place to assure my safety and optimal outcome. When they were ready to begin, each person in the room laid a hand on me and spoke words of assurance, and comfort. "We've got this", for example. Then, they told me to take deep breaths of oxygen and they would begin my anesthesia. I felt like a swaddled baby being lulled to sleep. Dr. Thanh Barbie is an enthusiastic team player. She speaks of her team members in the most positive way and… gives the impression that she greatly values each of them. My interactions with Dr. Thanh Barbie gave me the sense that she is focused, dedicated, takes pride in doing the best job possible, and that she has the proper temperament for a surgeon. I would recommend Dr. Thanh Barbie to a family member.

I found her to be quick and sharp and not particularly interested in hearing anything that was contrary to her prognosis. She was confrontational and aggressive. I did not see the compassion and caring others posted. Her exam was not gentle at all. I felt like a giggle in a wheel of a well greased gear. Just follow the assembly line and you will be fine. I am sure she is fantastic with the blade, since she has no bedside manner at all. I needed someone to reassure me. I found someone who had an agenda and no time for questions.

Dr. Barbie is an extremely caring and compassionate doctor. She truly makes her patient feel at ease and you know that she will be with you every step of your treatment.
