Dr. Theodore D. Freeland began his career practicing dentistry from 1971-1976. He has been in private orthodontic practice since 1978. After graduating from Albion College in 1967, Dr. Freeland attended the University of Detroit Mercy where he earned his dental degree in 1971 and his Master of Science in Orthodontics in 1978. In 1986, Dr. Freeland completed Dr. Gene Williamson’s course in occlusion and TMJ; in 1990, he completed the Roth/Williams course in advanced orthodontics.
He is a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, Vacationland Dental Society, American Association of Orthodontists, Great Lakes Society of Orthodontists, Michigan Society of Orthodontists, American Equilibration Society, College of Diplomats of the American Board of Orthodontics, Roth/Williams International Society of Orthodontists, and a past Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry.
As an adjunct professor in orthodontics at the University …of Detroit Mercy, Dr. Freeland has also held academic appointments at the University of Detroit, in fixed prosthetics and orthodontics; the Roth/Williams Center, as a clinical instructor; and the Advanced Education in Orthodontics Group, as the director and as an instructor. Dr. Freeland is an accomplished author and he has lectured on numerous occasions locally, nationally, and internationally.
In his spare time, Dr. Freeland enjoys helping orthodontic graduate students, as a volunteer lecturer, at many university orthodontic programs.
