Consider yourself warned, Every single prescription called in is wrong or simple never arrives with multiple calls & discussion re: payment? WTH? I've been left in dangerous situations without medication. He's incompetent & unethical. When I couldn't get accurate prescription sent in timely or correct. I HAD to go elsewhere. What did he do? Called my primary care Dr without so much as a mention to me. He refused to fill my imitrex after telling me not to get it elsewhere. BTW. I'm managing a parent with dementia & recently paralyzed sibling. He's unethical & without a conscience.

Helpful and kind from the get go, Dr. Smith takes the time needed to listen and incorporate patient's needs in treatment plan. He helped me greatly during this Covid19 pandemic when most Psychiatrists are not even taking new patients. He went the extra mile to make me feel heard and understood as it was my first time seeing a new Psychiatrist in over 5 years. I have already booked my follow up appointment with him and will continue to see him in the future.

I’ve been with Dr Smith for 7 years and he’s good at what he does. I assure you that he does care and he will try to help you as best as he possibly can. He is going to be honest with you, understanding, and he will come up with a specific plan for treating you.

I have been a suboxone patient for 3 years and Dr Smith is the fourth doctor I have seen for treatment. First doctor got me off of it too quickly to succeed, one left the profession, and the third ran more of a “pill mill” than an actual doctors office, some visits never even seeing an actual doctor. With Dr Smith I never have to worry about any of those issues. He sits and talks with me for hour long sessions going over not only future addiction treatment plan but also treatment plans for my ADD, depression, and even the getting my weight back down to where I was before I got off of my DOC. He has never pushed a drug on to me and always respects my opinion about trying or not trying new options. He has adjusted my medication so that I am comfortable with the dose and we are now working on getting down to a lower amount. Thank you Dr Smith for helping me get my life back together.

I have only seen him once but I had a great experience. He listened to me and we are working towards a better me. Great doctor!!!!!!!!

The first 2 aspects of Dr Theodore Smith to keep in mind is he with certainty will forget an astounding percentage of your discussions and will contradict himself repeatedly. I am personally concerned about his own mental state and the serious possibility that he is using drugs himself. I initially contacted Smith to help with an opioid addiction and was given suboxone as a method of treatment. I have been with Smith for 5 years simply because I am on suboxone which is a medication that is highly addictive and he has not one time despite normal suboxone protocol recommended that I do anything whatsoever to attempt to ween off or stop using the medication, and has only recommended that I take more of the suboxone. Please let that settle in, 5 years of my life has been spent hoping to recover from a horrible addiction only to become addicted to a substance that my doctor will only prescribe more of. When confronted or simply questioned about possible physical side effects of the… medication there has not been one time that Dr Smith has acknowledged any responsibility for the effects of the suboxone. Further he has attempted to link dangerous side effects to literally anything other than the medication. The resolution to any complaint regarding physical side effects has come only in the form of an acknowledgement that there is a legal possibility that something other than his prescribed medications could be causing the ailments. I am now experiencing serious nerve, muscle, tendon pain, my teeth are falling out, my memory is virtually non existent, all of which are side effects of the suboxone that I was not made aware of. His greatest concern is not the patient's well being but his own in regards to potential malpractice lawsuits and the survival of his practice. He has repeatedly referred to himself as an expert and has attempted repeatedly to belittle me and discount my accomplishments. I have been told by him a number of times that I will only end up addicted to hard drugs again if I attempt to do anything other than stay on Suboxone. The only circumstance that he will not give a patient suboxone is if the patient is doing anything that could cause his practice to be shut down. This leaves patients completely lost with potentially multiple new addictions which he now will not treat and he was responsible for beginning the patients treatment with the very drugs that they are addicted to. Dr Smith is a self proclaimed addictionologist (which I do not believe is a real word) and he only causes patients to further their addictions. I know other patients, past and present, and none of which have succeeded in suboxone treatment. His expertise is used only to convince a patient that they need him, there exists no evidence of Smith helping a patient to achieve the goal of sobriety. The most unusual aspect of Dr Smiths treatment is he appears to have race and gender based differences in his approach. I have heard dramatically different stories from other patients than my own and identical stories to my own and consistencies are found amongst the stories coming from men, women, white people and black people. Patients are treated differently by Dr Smith based on not who they are mentally or emotionally but who they are physically. In addition he has dramatically different treatment approaches for those who can pay and for those who cannot. A person that can pay will be given more leeway than someone who cannot meaning that payment will cause Smith to promote Suboxone use long term however non payment will cause Smith to promote the patient pursuing getting off the medications. It is known that there are payments made to doctors who prescribe suboxone so it could make sense that his sole intention is financial and what is more disturbing is he is making his money by creating new addictions. His treatment is inconsistent, contradictory, dangerous, and only based in the furthering of his financial well being. I can only hope that this review is seriously considered before others begin suboxone treatment with Dr Theodore Smith in Atlanta. You can be assured that Dr Smith will not do anything for you and will do everything he can to protect himself. Dr Smith will belittle you, antagonize you, and will not be the cornerstone for your success in therapy, rather he will be the cornerstone for your failure.

He has give me some great advice and he spends time with you. Explains the purpose for medicine and makes you think. Finally found someone who cares and not just about the money.

Terrible doctor . I'm surprised he is even still in business .. if you care about your health and safety see someone else .

This doctor does not include you in his treatment plan. He has a bad aditude and is just all out not helpful.
