Dr. Theresa May Lee, MD

I saw Dr. Lee the week of Thanksgiving a year ago. I had just been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis following a colonoscopy. The doctor who performed the colonoscopy prescribed 2 tablets of Lialda a day. When I saw Dr. Lee, she doubled the amount to 4 tablets. I ended up in the emergency room the Monday after Thanksgiving due to blood loss. I called her office every day expressing concerns about my condition. The Thursday after Thanksgiving I saw her again as a follow-up to the ER visit. She said we’d keep the same regiment we’d been doing. I asked if the Lialda could be a problem as I was experiencing many of the designated side effects. She said it was very unlikely to be the medication. By Saturday, I was at the ER again and told to stop taking the Lialda by the doctor on call. Monday I had an emergency colostomy in which my entire colon was removed due to a perforation and on the verge of perforating in 2 more places. Within 2 weeks of seeing Dr. Lee, I had my entire… colon removed after having just been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis.
