Dr. Thinh Duy Mai, MD

I saw Laura Slippy, a psychiatric nurse working under Dr Thinh, and requested my notes after my appt, she got what I said during my appt completely wrong, maybe it was miscommunication or her own internal biases, either way it's extremely unprofessional and dangerous esp working in the mental health field. I hope she works on her listening skills in the future and takes this seriously because its actually super harmful. I also told her I was nonbinary and she never used my correct pronouns once and even referred to me as "girl" multiple times in our visit and the notes she took for me. This does not feel like a LGBTQ+ friendly office. Overall, my experience with her was not pleasant, I got the impression that she is not interested in having an open mind to what her patients think and is only interested in fitting them inside a box. From our appointment I found she is a very black and white thinker and had no interest in hearing my actual concerns or reason for treatment. Office staff… was nice.

He is by far the best psychiatrist I have seen. Believe me, I have seen plenty of psychiatrists over the years. Unfortunately, he is not taking any more patients. My 27 years old daughter moved back to San Jose and had to see his partners. She said they are good psychiatrists too. She is still on the waiting list to see Dr. Mai.

Dr. Mai and his staff are some of the most wonderful, helpful, and compassionate people I've ever encountered in a clinical setting. Dr. Mai never makes me feel rushed and really takes the time to understand and discuss all of my concerns. I truly feel that he and his staff care about me as a person and I would highly recommend him to anyone for your mental health needs. He also has two convenient locations and his office is always clean, organized, and functions like a well-oiled machine.

From the office staffs to the psychiatrists to Dr. Mai, they are "Excellent". They are caring, empathetic, sympathetic, and overall awesome. They also have dark chocolate for everyone, and will share their snacks with you. I was running late for an appointment one day and did not have time to eat lunch; Dr. Mai shared his lunch with me. "Amazing".

Dr. Mai has stabilized my mood and made it possible for me to be happy again. He listened, asked the pertinent questions, and prescribed medication that works. I highly recommend him.

What happened to the over 300 positive reviews of Dr. Mai and his team from the Patient Fusion Site? They took away my eloquent comments about him. He told me that he does not advertise, but I did not know he will removed these reviews too. I am going to have a talk with him on my next visit. LMAO.

He is busy. His office is always busy with several therapists working there. Yet his staffs are very nice and professional. He and his partner Carol Williams really spend time to listen to your troubles. When I was there recently, I noticed he has medical students and nurse practitioner students training with him. This is a very solid team. They absolutely cares for your overall well being. P.S. Go Stanford.
