This doctor works for insurance companies not for the patient. Run

12/2014 had XLIF done by Dr Altstadt who had my extensive surgical history. He instrumented a hole in my Common Iliac Vein causing loss of massive amount of blood. Surgery lasted 10 hours, necessitating additional surgery to place BPPatch on the vein. Being 64 yo, 10 hours of surgery and anesthesia caused significant brain dysfunction and a year in recovery. A 1.5 hour surgery lasted 10 hours and a 14” surgical incision. Please think twice about using Dr Altstadt for this surgery. I still have some amnesia and simple math difficulty. Many other problems to list. Be aware that these “potential outcomes” are considered within acceptable risk. Guard your health.

Dr. Altstadt is the best in my opinion. He saved my sons life. . Almost 3 myrs out.Kudos to you Dr. Altstadt..

Dr. Altstadt was my doctor in 2012. He was very compassionate, caring and understanding.

Dr. Aldstadt is Knowledgeable, confident and has strong, caring hands. As a NS he is top of the line. If you are in need of a top notch NS maybe you can get lucky enough to see him.

Dr Alstadt is an amazing Dr that cares about his patients

I'm sure Altstadt is a competent surgeon, however his cocky, self serving persona left me feeling as if he expected me to be incredibly "thankful" I was fortunate to have made his acquaintance. He viewed 16 mth old MRI films which, if he'd have used as a base point for my surgery would have resulted in a substantially grander scaled, I'll equipped procedure once he began. Insisted on a 2nd and 3rd epidural procedure AND 12 sessions of physical therapy, although neither would have aided my condition and therapy would've possibly exacerbated my injuries. He and his nurse, Barbara insisted insurance would not cover surgery w/o these preliminary procedures which wound up being factually incorrect. Again, he is probably proficiently skilled at his trade however I left his office feeling insecure, uncertain and somewhat confused-as if I could never envelop details of the procedure (too complex for the simple commoner?) certainly not how anyone should leave a consult feeling.

Dr. Altstadt performed surgery on broken back of my husband after falling 10' from roof and falling on concrete. Amazing results - more than could ask for after approx 1 month at UL hospital and Frazer Rehab - could not ask for better care and concern. We were seeking the best in the field - and now have no doubts - would recommend Dr. Altstadt to anyone fortunate enough to ask our opinion.
