Dr. Thomas Stephen Balch

I have been going to Dr. Balch for years. He is extremely knowledgeable and I have never seen a doctor who cares as much about his patients as him.

Prescribes IV steroids, which can result in diabetes. Uses A1C's to assess glucose levels. Did finger sticks but ignored high readings. I have diabetes now and should have sued him, but did not. Lobby is tiny and patients waited in corridor out side office, until they could get into same four chair infusion room for treatment. Financial records were unbelievably bad. I was asked repeatedly for payments, in front of others, even though I had both private insurance and medicare. By the time it was straightened out my husband's company had changed insurance companies. The agreement that Dr. Balch would be considered in network was lost. I was seen conversing with a patient who's husband filled in for Dr. Balch and diagnosed my diabetes. This doctor seemed to have become less enamored of Dr. Balch's practices and treatment of his own wife. I was dropped from the practice and informed I left owing a bill. They did not report it to my credit report. When I called for a referral to another… Dr. I was told I could use the internet. This Dr. was affiliated with no hospital and patients were told to go to the ER in a life threatening event. The infusion nurses were very nice, but questions about his lack of affiliation were met with sideways looks between them and went unanswered.

I have never been to a more concerned and caring physician. He diagnosed my problem accurately and I have done very well under his care.

He diagnosed me as being depressed without doing any tests and I found myself in the emergency room at St. Joseph Hospital with a brain abcess.
