Dr. Thomas Kester Berry

First of all, let me start by making it known that I have had eight surgeries over the past few years and I have never encountered a bad experience or had a nurse who could not get an IV started. I have had two bad experiences with Dr. Thomas Berry and his staff at the Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. I WAS SCHEDULED TO HAVE A NISSEN FUNDOPLICATION DONE. The two nurses that are working in the operation "prep" area need more experience. I was lucky enough to get the same two nurses every time I went to the hospital as Dr. Thomas Berrys patient. The first surgery that I was scheduled for was a "bust". I lay in the prep area for 2 hours while the nurses tried to start an IV with no success. My family looked on in HORROR, AS THESE UNQUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS PROBED AND STUCK ME UNTIL I WAS BLACK AND BLUE. THEY ROLLED ME INTO THE OPERATING ROOM SO THE ANESTHESEIST COULD START THE IV. HE TRIED TO START AN IV IN MY SHOULDER BONE! I WAS IN THE OPERATING ROOM ON THAT TABLE… SCREAMING IN UTTER AGONY!! THIS HAD TO BE THE WORST PAINFUL!! EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!! I WOULD NOT LET THE SURGERY HAPPEN! I went home and Dr. Berry rescheduled the Nissen Fundoplication and decided that I needed a pic line inserted. I had the pic line done and the surgery went as planned and I was happy with not having anymore GERD. SEVEN MONTHS LATER, THE GERD IS BACK. I AM SUFFERING ONCE AGAIN. I have COPD emphysema and bronchitis and I went to see my lung specialist and he seemed to think that the stomach acid is aspirating into my lungs. Well, I went back to Dr. Berry and asked if he would do an EGD to see if the Nissen Fundoplication has loosened or to just look inside to see what the problem was. This began another horrible experience with and Dr. Thomas Berry and Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. I went to prep area and was assigned the SAME TWO NURSES! THAT COULD NOT GET THE IV STARTED THE DURING THE FIRST PROCEDURE!!THEY WERE ASSIGNED TO ME AGAIN!! MY ARMS ARE BLACK AND BLUE AND THEY DONT HAVE A CLUE!! ABOUT HOW TO GET AN IV STARTED. I WENT TO MOREHEAD HOSPTAL A COUPLE OF WEEKS BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY LUNGS. THE NURSE AT MOREHEAD HOSPITAL INSERTED THE IV!! SHE KNEW HOW TO INSERT AN IV!! SHE HAD NO PROBLEMS INSERTING THE IV!!THESE TWO WOMEN ARE THE ONLY NURSES THAT I HAVE HAD ASSIGNED TO ME THAT COULD NOT GET AN IV STARTED!!NO ONE HAS HAD A PROBLEM INSERTING THE IV, EXCEPT THOSE QUACKS AT Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. SO I KNOW THAT IT IS THE IGNORANCE OF THOSE TWO NURSES AT Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. Dr. Berry told ONE OF THE NURSES to forget about the IV and give me VERSED SYRUP. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD TAKE TWENTY MINUTES FOR THE VERSED TO WORK. I WOKE UP TWO HOURS LATER AND THE EGD HAD NOT BEEN DONE!! AND THE NURSE HAD THE NERVE TO TELL ME THAT I WAS SNORING. I HAVE SLEEP APNEA AND USE A CPAP MACHINE SO QUITE NATURALLY, I WAS SNORING AFTER BEING GIVEN A SLEEP MEDICINE AND LEFT THERE TO LAY AND WAIT FOR TWO HOURS!! DEAR GOD!! THIS MAN SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO PRACTICE MEDICINE!! IF I HAD BEEN IN THE OPERATING ROOM HAVING THE EGD DONE AS SCHEDULED!! I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN LYING IN THE PREP AREA SNORING!! DR. BERRY FINALLY SHOWED UP!! TWO HOURS AFTERING GIVING ME THE VERSED!!! THE VERSED HAD WORN OFF!! HE HAD THE NERVE!! TO SAY SCHEDULE HER FOR A UPPER GI TEST" ON FRIDAY.THESE PEOPLE ARE CRAZY!! I LOST AN ENTIRE DAY FROM COLLEGE, FOR NOTHING!! I LAY IN THAT HOSPITAL FROM 6:30 AM UNTIL 10:30 AM AND NEVER HAD ANY PROCEDURE DONE!! I WENT TO DR. THOMAS BERRYS OFFICE AND GOT MY MEDICAL RECORDS AND I AM NO LONGER A PATIENT OF DR. THOMAS BERRY. HE HAS NO CONCERN OR RESPECT FOR HIS PATIENTS. HE IS ALL ABOUT HOW MUCH MONEY HE CAN COLLECT! I HAVE EXCELLENT INSURANCE AND THANKS TO GOD, MY BILL IS PAID IN FULL! HE SCHEDULES TOOOOO MANY PATIENTS ON THE SAME DAY AND!! WELL, I WANT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT EXPERIENCING THAT AGAIN!! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIM.
