Dr. Thomas Edward Bowser, MD

One year ago, I was at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona getting a physical and having my routine scan of my brain tumor. Everything checked out fine, little did I know 3 weeks later I would be at a level one trauma center and under the care of Dr. Boone and his team. I collapsed and started seizing. I was brought into St. Francis Hospital by ambulance. The neurologist that was on call came to me via video. She didn’t feel my tumor was the cause because I had just had it checked and dismissed herself from the case. Luckily for me, my husband and the ER doctor didn’t agree. As my seizures became so frequent, I didn’t know who anyone was. The ER doctor did a CAT scan and told my husband not only was my brain swollen but the tumor had grown significantly in 3 weeks. I was told later that St. Francis Hospital could not stabilize me and I was transported to Penrose Hospital, the local level one trauma hospital. Now mind you, I remember very little of what happened, I was seizing one after another.… I remember a lot of people in white coats coming in and out of my room and was placed in ICU. Fortunately for me Dr. Boone has a great surgical team. He had a visiting surgeon from LA, Dr. Noel, I was assigned to him. Another person on this team was Dr. Bowser! This neurological team, checked in on me often. The medication Dr. Bowser gave me stabilized me enough to go into surgery. Dr. Noel performed the surgery and Dr's. Boone and Bowser have maintained my care since that day. I would highly recommend Dr. Bowser for seizure control. He is on top of your care from start to finish. After being discharged from the hospital, I went non-responsive 2 more times and was transported to St. Frances the first time and they didn’t keep Dr. Boone, Dr. Noel or Dr. Bowser in the loop. The next time my husband demanded I be taken to Penrose, once again my surgical team was not notified. After seeing Dr. Boone several days later, he was able to reassure me that the ER doctor was wrong in the diagnoses and that I should be back on my meds, that the ER doctor took me off. He recommended that I follow up with Dr. Bowser. These were most likely seizures. Dr. Bowser confirmed they were seizures, and no more hospital ER visits for me. Dr. Bowser was able to witness one of my non responsive seizure in his office. He has given me advice about this new medical condition and has been very concerned about my health. Having this skilled team is what made all the difference. I would not be alive today without them!

Not a "Dr. Robert" to quote the Beatles song. He gives you the care you need, and finds root causes and addresses them..He's not a 'Dr. Feel-good'. His nerve conduction test was very revealing. Most doctors in the 'Springs won't touch you with a 10 foot pole if your on Medicaid. I'm glad helped me, even though he probably lost money doing so. I don't understand all the negativity in the reviews here.. His report got my other doctors off the 'stick' in treating my physicial issues. Many thanks.

My mom recently had a stroke and was flown to Penrose hospital. We were waiting patiently for her MRI results (which took all day) and in walked Dr. Bowser. His bedside manor was awful. He was rude, condescending, contradictory, unprofessional, made multiple odd comments such as "some people run to the ER because they farted", and he was not open to answering questions and not only said to me, "yeah, I answered that 40 minutes ago", but also had the nerve to say to my mom who had just had a stroke and had major cognitive issues and asked a simple question, "don't you remember, I told you that yesterday!"

Dr Bowser is personable & put me at ease from the beginning. He listens and answers my questions thoroughly. I have confidence in him. I would recommend him to anyone who needs a neurologist.

Does not listen well an tends to be very condescending .

This rude, condescending and unprofessional doctor does not even deserve one star. I walked out of my appointment, in the middle of my test, because I could not handle his accusations. I was extremely upset and in tears when I left his office. As a breast cancer survivor with lasting medical problems from Chemotherapie and numerous surgeries, I do not need to be insulted by a non caring physician who has no interest in a patient’s history and just makes assumptions. All patients deserve better!

This was my first appointment with him and I found him to be very pleasant and he explained the test procedures very well. I was comfortable that he was experienced and knowledgeable about his work and was very professional.

Wow! What a surprise, as I was apprehensive after reading a couple negative reviews on the Doctor’s website. I can truthfully say, as an older person (81), the Doctor is one of the nicer Doctors I’ve met, very professional, thorough, on time ... no waiting, and all his staff members I met were extremely nice and professional. I would highly recommend Dr. Thomas for anyone needing an EMG test, which he explained in a manner I could understand as a layperson.

I was referred to Dr. Bowser by my ophthalmologist for a serious medical condition. The doctor took a detailed history and performed a neurological examination. He also reviewed my recent Brain MRI pointing out the important features both normal and abnormal including the limitations of the study. He discussed my diagnosis and the differential diagnosis as well as my current medical regimen and future treatment options. His evaluation was thorough and reassuring. Dr. Bowser made sure I had his business card in order to schedule a follow up appointment when needed.

My husband was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) in 2007, he was referred to Dr. Bowser, and I was my husband's guardian, based on the fact that Mike had the form of the disease that destroys brain cells. When I filled out his paperwork for him I indicated that Mike wanted to be put on life support, which would have - and was - most assuredly a ventilator. This so-called "professional" went right through the ceiling when he read my husband's medical record, and Mike's last wishes. Right in front of my husband he bellowed: "He can't be on a ventilator for the rest of his life! That's not for HIM to decide! He's mentally retarded! YOU are the one who has to make that decision for him!!!" Then this jerk just rambled on and on and on, in front of Mike, as though he was a flower pot. There's a good reason why his last name is "Bowser"; this guy's a real dog, and I guarantee you can find someone - Anyone - who will deserve your patronage better than this jerk.
