Dr. Thomas Owen Crawford, MD

I am an adult with muscle atrophy and severe nerve pain. I have undifferentiated connective tissue disease. I read all the other reviews and realized that I am not alone. I am still upset and disturbed by my visit yesterday. My rheumatologist scheduled me to have an EMG. Dr. Crawford performed it. I waited about an hour for him to see me. He asked me why I was there. Clearly, he had not read my history. The test was suppose to take 60 minutes. He performed the test in less than 10 minutes. His conclusion is that it was normal. I asked why do I have severe nerve pain and muscle atrophy. I showed him my foot, which is practically skin and bones. I read it is called intra digital muscle wasting. Dr. Crawford, pushed the flesh from the bottom of my feet upward to fill in the missing spaces on the top of my foot and said it looks okay now. I was shocked! I have a very large lump on my left forearm and severe muscle wasting on my left forearm and hand. I asked what is this lump. He showed me… his forearm and said that he has the same thing when clearly his arm was normal. Every physician that I have seen has recognized that it is not normal but do not know what it is. This man did not even perform an EMG on my right forearm, which was my primary complaint. When he told me the test was negative, I asked, so does that mean I do not have peripheral neuropathy. He said, "Yes!" I looked at Johns Hopkins website and saw that their is a type of peripheral neuropathy that does not show up on an EMG. Please do not go to this insensitive doctor.

This doctor misdiagnosed my child. He did not listen to any of my concerns. I’m so glad that I got a second opinion. Do not waste your time seeing him.

Waited a lengthy time to be seen and then was seen by the Dr for a very short time. He was irritated with questions and sated he had other patients stacking up and had to go. Did not care to listen to the history of our child and had not read reports sent to him by other Drs before coming in.

Fr.Crawford saved my life I love that man

Dr. Crawford completely dismissed the value of physical therapy when he told us our son had experienced a prenatal stroke. He did not mention the highly successful constraint-induced therapy we found through other health professionals. This therapy has worked so well for our son, as it does for nearly all kids with this type of cerebral palsy. Had we not explored this on our own and instead taken Dr. Crawford's advice, I know that our son would be incapable of using his right hand today. Please at the very least get a second opinion if you see him.

What's the point of having an appt with this man? He rather worry about his students than focusing on his patients. He never read up on my sons long intense medical care, he comes in clueless asking why I'm here. He acted as if my son didn't fit in his "criteria" to teach his students so he totally blew us off. Save your time and see someone else

He needs to spend more time talking to his patients rather than the interns he is teaching while in the room with patients. Patients sometimes come a very long way to see him and he needs to be respectful and mindful of this. Also did not realize the appt. was over until he just walked out of the room. I had to flag him down and ask when we needed to see him next. Honestly, just kinda felt blown off since we were not one of his most interesting cases of the day. I'm sure he is a great doctor since he works at Johns Hopkins but he needs to remember his patients have names and are not a research case!
