Dr. Thomas Eugene Draschil, MD

If I could leave 0 stars, I would. Draschil is egotistical to say the least, doesn't know medicine the way a psychiatrist should, and has a concerning history as a Dr. that makes a lot of sense after being seen by him at Salt Lake Behavioral around 6 months ago. Would not recommend to anyone, he should not be practicing.

Was under docs care at salt Lake behavioral recently. That man has earned my applaus, respect and if I ever run into him again a firm hand shake and many thanks. If you have a chance to meet him, get to know him, he is relatable, human, isn’t on a pedastal looking down on us patients. When I gave him that chance and shared some of him, immediately felt like he doesn’t just know it from a book, but has some real life experience and has done the hard transformative work., which in my world and opinion earns far more trust than a white coat and a prescription pad only. Look it up. Utah Division of Professional liscensing vs. Thomas Draschil. If he EVER practices again I would RUN, not walk away from this man. Unless you’d like you’re life to be ruined. Be informed. Don’t do it.

He shows up late as a rule. On my first visit they put a more-established young female patient in front of me last minute, her 15 min time slot spilled over into my 60 min slot. At T+5 minutes in, I said something. The secretary said.."Oh no, you can't bother him with time...he doesn't like that." This secretary was also incredibly unprofessional on several levels, calling him Dr. Delicious, alcohol on her breath....At t+30 minutes I expressed my discontent and walked out, my lunch hour and commuting time soon over. Psychiatrists are few in number, and on a repeat go (maybe all that was a fluke?) for the 60 min slot, amongst other things, he began yelling at me. I finally called him out on verbal assault and he shut his mouth. He has an ego and an anger management problem. I don't recommend him at all to anybody.

On my first and only visit he was quick to push all sorts of drugs at me, citing slurred speech and disorganized thinking, even after I'd mentioned 3-4 times that I got poor sleep the night prior. I walked out after ten minutes of arguing that I knew my body better he did. Then he billed my insurance for the full hour. Such useless education. I went home and slept and felt much better and have not darkened his doorstep since.

Dr. D is a unique provider in the medical industry and you would be so lucky if he ends up being your doctor. From personal experience he helped me at my very lowest point and changed my life. He actually cares.. he is actually there to help you.. he is genuinely interested and he is completely brilliant. He became a friend to me and I truly will never forget his influence and care in my life. Thank you will never ever seem like enough. After working in the medical industry for the past 5 years myself, I can say this is the type of provider you want and the care you actually need. My husband and I talk about all the time about how he is the type of person you just want to go hang out and be buddies with because he is so down to earth. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

In the beginning Dr. Draschil was very attentive and seemed to really care. I was so hopeful that someone so brilliant and talented would be able to help me. But as time progressed it became apparent that he was too busy--most likely having too many patients--to provide needed care in a timely manner in time of crisis or otherwise. Due to less than acceptable communication regarding serious complications with prescribed medication, I nearly lost my life. Dr. Draschil's office team would benefit from more training on how to ask the right questions to assess the need of involving the doctor right away in patient crisis conditions.

and then refuses to ever see you again.

Very friendly; asks the right questions and certainly knows his stuff. Shame he's so busy, but that's the price you pay because he's so good.

He is the best kept secret. I love Dr. Draschil he has literally helped me so so much.
