Dr. Thomas David Geppert, MD

After 24 years of worsening chronic pain issues that seemed resistant to treatment, he was the only doctor who accurately diagnosed me with a very rare progressive bone metabolic disease, hypophosphatasia. Dr. Geppert went to a training in which he learned about the disease at times being misdiagnosed with fibromyalgia. Then he audited every single one of his fibromyalgia patients' charts for the hallmark indicator--low alkaline phosphatase levels. This is an extraordinary thing for a doctor to do. His nurse and then eventually Dr. Geppert called me repeatedly until I came back into the office as I hadn't seen him in a couple of years. He did additional labs and helped me get free genetic testing. He consulted with a specialist and took time to do research on hypophosphatasia. He and his nurse Sherri are extremely responsive and helpful. I am so thankful to Dr. Geppert for diagnosing me with such a rare disorder--many hypophosphatasia patients go their whole lives without being… diagnosed. Now I can finally get some relief for my symptoms. Not only has this helped me, but it has helped other family members as well because my genetic mutation is autosomal dominant. This means one of my parents and one of my grandparents have this rare disease and are likely symptomatic as well. I highly recommend anyone to see Dr. Geppert due to his extraordinary clinical care and resourcefulness.

I've been going to Dr. Geppert for almost 6 years. He is very willing to listen, to partner with his patients for solutions, and stays abreast of current treatment methods.

Dr. Geppert is patient and thorough. I have looked to him for treating my difficult medical condition for 30 years. I would recommend his care to any with challenging medical issues. He does not skip steps or look for quick answers, but will come to a successful conclusion.

I read the comments and I would agree that Dr. G seems at times to be aloof. However, I believe he is highly skilled at his profession. He knows what symptoms to look for and how to manage them. He has many patients with several medical complications that overlap. Patients may present different symptoms at each appointment because the medication did not help or new symptoms developed or a new illness. I think Dr. Geppert is good at sorting this out. I believe many patients are expecting a quick fix or medication that will solve every symptom. That is not the nature of his practice. Most of his patients will require rheumatology care for the rest of their lives. Dr. Geppert states facts. I can see how some patients may find this rude but he is simply providing a diagnosis based on the evidence of labs and patient symptoms. He is not going to coddle his patients. He is successful with patients that take charge of their own health and will work toward improving. I would much rather have a… doctor that is truthful, gives the diagnosis to me straight, doesn't downplay the probability of future issues and has decades of experience to relate than a doctor that will pat my hand and say don't worry everything will be alright. He has always taken the time to throughly answer my questions AND he personally responds to medical questions such through email. Sometimes those answers are not what I want to hear. That is my problem, not his.I take responsibility for managing my own health and allow him to guide me in the right direction with medication and knowledge. I prefer a doctor that has years of experience to supplement his knowledge and skill.. That IS Dr. Geppert. If you are the kind of patient that needs "grandmotherly" treatment then I would recommend seeing a different doctor. If you are the kind of patient that wants to be involved with understanding your own medical issues and working WITH a doctor that is focused on proper treatments and you can be open to hearing and accepting the facts then you will do fine with Dr. Geppert sharing your lengthy medical journey. He is one of the best. As for the office staff and lab tech - I would agree there is room for improvement and would appreciate them being more friendly. However, they have never been UN-friendly or rude. AND they are NOT the medical provider - Dr. Geppert is and he is the reason I continue visiting the office.

I was very happy with the doctor, he listened to my concerns, prescribed the needed meds and followed up on blood tests. His assistant was very knowledgable and recited almost verbatim to the doctor what I had told her my concerns were.The only negative person was the lab tech, she was very cold and seemed like she didn't really want to be there, but on the upside, she new how to draw blood and did it very well.

Very thorough and spent lots of time explaining eveything to me in a way i understood.Found him to be very caring and willing to help.

Wow. I have read some of the complaints about Dr Geppert and I don't see it. He has helped me deal with body pain that was disabling and has been very concerned that I am living a normal life. Sometimes doctors can't fix everything. Our bodies wear out and at 71, I am grateful for Dr's like Dr Geppert that encourages you to listen to your body because you are the one living in it. However, I will say his nurse can be rather rude and a little sharp. But I can hold my ground in that type of situation as I am guilty of being a bit rude at times. My advise, tell Dr Geppert how you feel (kindly) we all have bad days.He will take the time you need. I am blessed to have the medical treatment that Dr Geppert provides.

I am giving up on this dr. Sorry i waited so long to switch. He is very uncaring about my pain. Seems to think I'm lazy or a drug addict. Is always curt with me. Almost rude at times and I have been going to him for over 10 years? Why I ask myself? Ten wasted years. Last time I was there he had me in tears. He didn't look at me or say a word about me crying my eyes out. Just walked out. So I walked out, crying. Sherry came running after me, not to ask what's wrong but to tell me I didn't check out and reschedule. Not one word about the labs I was supposed to have done. I walked right past the lab tech and she didn't say wait you are supposed to have labs. Nothing from nobody except the woman who wanted my money. I told Sherry I wasn't going back in there. I don't know if she knows I meant, forever. Or if she even cares. She is very condescending at times. A few times actually rude to me. I am done with all if them and wish I had of done this after the 2nd visit.

I've gone to Dr Geppert for about 3 years and really think he's a great doctor. Pain relief is not instantaneous. I've had to add meds, adjust dosages, change medications to get to the right treatment for my psoriatic and osteoarthritis, and also fibromyalgia. Dr Geppert has helped me do this. He is cautious with drugs, watches for interactions, and I appreciate this. I wonder if some disgruntled patients are just seeking drugs. I'm sorry for those who aren't able to control their pain, but you have to work with the doctor to find the right mix, not just expect him to fix it while you sit back and wait. Also, Sherry is wonderful. She always returns calls, call in meds immediately, and can fit you in for appointments very fast.

Addressed To: Whom ever wrote the email To clarify things, it was her husband who got upset and not my wife. Second, your nurses need to be more sensitive to patients. I understand that you do not overbook, but my issue was the way that she said that we could not return. Ms. Cherry said that we were fired and that the Dr. lose money for every patient that he does not see. The issue would have been better handle if she would have said, look the Dr. seems that your wife is not doing either progress or getting worst, therefore it would be better if she sees another Dr. The issue that she did not came to that visit was because of a migraine and she was just recuperating from the H1N1 virus. Which I took you the proof so you could see it. However, I would suggest to you to teach Ms. Cherry some people skills.
