Dr. Thomas Grader Beck, MD

I saw Dr. Grader-Beck back in 2014 because I was so sick and wanted to go to the ‘best’. His attending Dr. Timlin was very thorough and told me I likely had Sjogrens and uctd and put me on Plaquenil. I was 22 and went from running half marathons to unable to get out of bed, this is how bad my condition was. I wrote up a very thorough list of my symptoms and went to see him for my follow up a couple of months later. He told me that even if I had Sjogrens, it was ‘no big deal’, it wasnt a ‘bad disease’ and dismissed all of my symptoms. I got diagnosed with a lip biopsy through someone else and found out that I do in fact have Sjogrens. The symptoms he dismissed including tachycardias, losing feeling in my legs, frequent urination were all caused by what I now know is autonomic neuropathy. According to Cleveland Clinic, Sjogrens is the second leading cause of autonomic neuropathy next to diabetes. He brushed me off like I didn’t matter and now almost 7 years later I finally found out what… Sjogrens has done to my body, but too late because I now have cardiac involvement. Johns Hopkins should be ashamed to have a doctor on board who does not or is not willing to accept that Sjogrens is more than a dry eye disease. It is systemic and debilitating and stole my entire young adulthood. I spent years thinking I was weak because of the pain and anguish I felt and replaying his words in my head that this disease wasn’t a bad one. Shame on you Dr Grader Beck. Don’t waste your time with him because you are not worth his.

Very knowledgeable in the subject of Sjogren s syndrome. Best doctor ever.

No follow-up.

I was recently diagnosed with on autoimmune disease. Not only did Dr. Grader-Beck help me understand my condition, he was very caring and empathetic at the same time. His staff has been wonderful led by Brittany. They have helped me process all the necessary paperwork I needed for my insurance. Though I hate the fact I have this new disease, I love my providers.

This doctor did not follow-up. I sent him test results then e-mails, and phone calls and am still waiting for a response.
