Dr. Thomas James Herbst, MD

Unlike many other psych's I've seen, he listens and cares. Nothing more therapeutic than that.

I saw Dr. Herbst a few years ago and I still remember my negative experience and wanted to share so someone can avoid it in the future. He was very insensitive and condescending throughout our appointments. I felt judged the entire time and he was pressing me to give a correct "definition of what my mood is" which apparently I wasn't describing in the way he wanted. I would recommend finding a different psychiatrist

Dr. Herbst is an extremely intelligent, compassionate and knowledgeable person. Each appointment ends with more understanding, hope and insight on my part.

I noticed changes in my son’s behavior and mood. He went from a happy kid to sleeping a lot, being disinterested and withdrawn. I pestered him for 2 full months to get evaluated. His dad’s side suffers from depression. This doctor just blew off his concerns and gave him vitamin D. Meanwhile my son is not better! Will go elsewhere now. This doc can’t diagnose.

I have had many therapists and psychiatrists until I found the right one. He's it!

Dr. Herbst has been a tremendous help in my growth/treatment. In areas of depression and cognitive therapy. He is very knowledgeable in many practices of mental health. i.e, meditation, homeopathics, and litature (poems/readings). These tools along with the traditional pyschaitry tools (medication/therapy) has really helped me grow and form a more stable thinking mind. He is very comfortable to be around and easy to open up too. Ive seen him as a child and now seeing him as a young adult. I would recommend him to family and friends.

There is no office staff, so that's a "NA". I cannot imagine being in therapy with Dr. Herbst; he just isn't the sort of person I could build a rapport with.
