Dr. Thomas James Heriza, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Thomas Heriza's for over a year, and have found him to be an excellent psychiatrist. Dr. Heriza takes a very thorough history, and uses that history with his patients to provide them with truly comprehensive care. He approaches treatment carefully, spending time on significant historical issues as well as the acute symptoms that brought the patient into his office. I have found that Dr. Heriza actually uses the thorough history, taking relevant issues into account when preparing the treatment plan. Furthermore, he is willing to discuss his thinking as a psychiatrist with his patient. In addition, I have always found Dr. Heriza to be well versed in the latest trends in psychiatry. While he is willing to use medications the patient may be familar with, but if he feels there is benefit to a newer medication, he will explain what he has based his opinion on, and then may encourage the use of a newer medication. He pays close attention to how the… patient is responding to the every medication, and his staff is always available to answer questions, or get Dr. Heriza to respond. In addition to medication management, Dr. Heriza is available for psychotherapy. I saw him weekly for over six months, and I found him to be quite effective as a psychotherapist. He has an excellent "bedside manner" and is quite approachable. The staff is professional, but also warm and always willing to help. Overall, I have found Dr. Heriza and his staff to provide the best psychiatric experience I have ever had. I highly recommend Dr. Thomas Heriza.

I have been talking to Dr. Heriza for nearly five years now. He is the kindest and most understanding psychiatrist I have ever talked to, and I have spoken with many. Always finds time to return calls on the same day, patiently listens and gives subtle advice without being overbearing, and is overall a just a very pleasant person to talk to. I have referred several people to him, and all of them also had wonderful experiences. Highly recommended, though the contact information on this website is incorrect as of 10/30/16.

Super easy to talk too..genuinely cares about your issues. Excellent doctor and has a outgoing personality which is odd for a doctor. Makes you feel right at home
