Dr. Thomas Patrick Keenan, MD

He tells it like it is!! Funny and is very thorough.

I was there twice for Dr. Keenan. The first time because I started seeing black floaters which is common, but also flashes like lightening. Assistants did some tests and indicated I had limitted periphial vision. He didn't really say anything. Made me 2nd appt where his assistants did some tests again. Then he came in and spoke about really inapropriate personal subjects. He didn't even talk about my eyes. I don't think he is a capeable doctor anymore. I filed a complaint, of course nothing happened about it. I had to make an appt with another clinic to feel comfortable. I told them I didn't feel responsible for the bill. Without any further notice they sent me to collection. Go somewhere else!

I honestly did not feel Dr. Thomas Keenan cared about my son but more about "how great he is as a ophthalmologist". My son has 20/20 vision and he prescribed him a stronger bifocal prescription than my 60 year old Mom who has horrible vision and is nearly blind. He said he is doing this not for my sons vision but to correct his eye that turns in (which is fine). My son has special needs and can't concentrate when wearing the glasses because it's like looking through a magnifying glass all day and he thinks they are broken since you can see the line of the bifocal which cuts across the middle of his eye. So its like he is seeing through a cracked magnifying glass all day. I asked Dr. Thomas if he could give him a lens where the bifocal is blended into the glasses (my Mom has this) and he said no. He said force him to wear them. I also informed him that we have been making him wear them even though he initially cries but it's still not helping his eye turn that its actually getting… worse. Instead of him saying bring him back to be re-evaluated he said "then don't have him wear them" and that his vision won't worsen but his eyes turning in will and the worst thing that will happen is his friends will make fun of him. Who says that! I would not reccomend this doctor he's more worried about being right than the actual problem. He doesn't listen to parents who knows their child best. I would suggest seeking eye care for your child elsewhere.

Excellent - I have been seeing Dr. Keenan for several years and do not have anything negative to say. He really cares about his patients and it shows in how he takes time to listen to what you say. His staff makes sure that you are seen on time, every time.

I was referred to Dr. Keenan by my son's pediatrician. I took my 18 month old in and we sat and waited and waited and waited.... Finally we were brought into an exam room and spoke with a tech. He looked over my son and said given his age we would have to put him on a restraining table in order to do the exam. Then we were sent back to the waiting room to wait some more. About 30 minutes later we were called back again and Dr. Keenan saw my son. He did a visual exam and told me he would have to restrain my son in order to do the exam. I said no restraints! No reason in the world to restrain a child for an eye exam. Dr. Keenan tried to change my mind by saying "It was normal procedure" Then he asked me how they gave him his shots if I didn't have him restrained? I told him that I just hold him. At this point I felt very uneasy in this place. Dr. Keenan sent us back to the waiting room. We waited another 40 minutes. My poor 18 month old was so restless and ready to leave. Finally they… called us back for the last time to do the eye exam that my son "needed" to be restrained for, which didn't happen. My Son sat in my lap as he did his exam and did just fine. Dr. Keenan said everything was fine with my son and asked me if I had any questions. I said no and we were on our way. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had and I will not be going back.
