Dr. Thomas C Letourneau, MD

Dr. Letourneau was a wonderful doctor. He helped me get better. When he moved he did tell me and referred me to other doctors.

Dr. Letourneau is a Psychiatrist who definitely needs to retire ASAP if he is really concerned about his patients. He is business like, talks to you while typing on his laptop, is great at spitting out statistics on medications and their success/failure rate without accuracy. He does not provide any therapy ONLY MEDS. He gets very defensive when supportive family members come to appointments with good suggestions and/ or important questions. He is NOT a good listener and fails to inform one's general doctor about one's diagnosis or any changes even when the patient gives consent. He typically keeps you for 15 min. and if you are lucky will see you for 30 min. during a crisis. He makes inappropriate, non-supportive, hurtful comments when flustered and agitated and shows no remorse for them when politely confronted. He takes no responsibility for his actions. Unfortunately, for me he incorrectly changed my diagnosis and placed me on the wrong medications at least 3x in 2-3 yrs. … After realizing I was becoming manic, delusional, hallucinating, talking excessively, not sleeping and was completely exhausted and terrified I asked family members to take me to the hospital. We immediately cut off Dr. Letourneau from my treatment team. I spent 2.5 weeks in one of Rochester's Psychiatric wards. Although the staff there was excellent, the recovery from mania and the PTSD effects from being in a lock down hospital ward was very difficult, long and painful. Fortunately, now I am well and in the care of a fabulous new Psychiatrist. If you need help Please DO NOT GO TO Dr. Thomas Letourneau!

Skilled at manipulation, to fit his own agenda

Honestly , for me it's a tossup.... stay home and suffer in silence or waste my time and money talking to a doctor who didn't get it.Get a pet , have a drink of wine,go for a walk,but don"t waste your time and money here.

Awful bed side manner when distraught he shows his true colors and no compassion at all. As long as you answer his questions do as he says and ask just talked normal as soon as get very aggitated or upset as prior warned is how feeling with things and get to begin with he gets nasty back and actually raised his voice at me, stood up and asked me to leave. As well on top of that when I didn't jump he threatened me said will call the police to escort me out if don't leave asap. I was in hysterics crying and upset didn't know what end was up the emotional state was in after almost 3 hours of drooling test, no breaks and continue to push when asked several times how much longer and just said few more minutes. Then 20 min etc till I finally said can't do no more need finish rest later and said could not. All I gotta say is if your are forced to go see this man per insurances, workman comp, SSDI or any sort of program to review you do not trust him the man does not care. He is out for just… his interest, payment, etc. He is not very open in you issue, understanding or compassionate as pyschologist should be. I left there more stressed and upset than went in and still dealing with how it effected me menatlly and physically. He is not to be trusted!! :( Be warned if you have to see him

I was a patient of Dr. Letourneau for 10 years. He prescribed the same benzodiazapine for the entire 10 years I saw him. I became addicted to that medication through no fault of my own. I took only the dosage prescribed by Dr. Letourneau. I never abused the drug (Klonopin). This drug is supposed to be prescribed for a maximum of 2 weeks, yet he kept me on a very high dosage for the entire 10 years I was his patient. I am now a patient of a QUALIFIED, responsible psychiatrist who is weaning me off of this drug. I am the fourth patient she's treated - all of whom came to her from Dr. Letourneau, addicted to benzodiazapines. Do not trust this man. His motive is to take your money and shut you up with medications that keep you sedated. I'm now paying the price from the abuse I suffered by trusting the wrong doctor.

Excellent caring Doctor. Honest with assessments and information. I have been a patient since 1996. Will go to bat for you with obstinate insurance companies. Limits what insurance he may take because of low reimbursement - not his fault that insurance companies are violating the Mental Parity Act in New York State.

Dr. Letourneau is calm & kind. He listens, asks prompting questions & always spends the appropriate amount of time with me. He has provided sound treatment that helps and supports... He is non-judgmental. Highly recommended.

I saw Dr. Letouneau in 1999 and need to go back, he has moved since that time and I went crazy looking for his name. I think he is a very compassionate, caring doctor I am glad I was able to locate him.

caring,compassinate, all around nice person who makes you feel comfortable I can tell him anything and he does not judge me. He is amazing MD - been with him for over 25 years!
