Dr. Thomas Jacob Mampalam, MD

This is the worst experience I've ever had with a medical professional. He caused permanent injury during an emergency surgical procedure and refused to acknowledge that my symptoms had worsened during my follow up. He is cold, dismissive, and condescending. Refused to give me a referral to PT, telling me to "just walk" despite the fact that I couldn't, due to the injury. I thankfully got a second opinion and additional MRI which showed the original disc herniation was still present, and went back to the OR just 6 weeks later for a re-do. Extremely traumatic. Please look elsewhere if you want a doctor who will treat you like a human.

this was the WORST DR I’ve ever seen. No care in his heart, wouldn’t even look me in the eyes when talking to me, put words in my mouth. Didn’t want to do further investigation to see what the problem is or help to seek treatment. I can go on and on. If you want more from me, just ask privately through email. But HIGHLY RECOMMEND you search for another Back Surgeon for your needs, I wouldn’t trust him with a scalpel.

Dr. Thomas Mampalam only spent 5 minutes with me and concluded that my symptoms meant nothing more than a peripheral neuropathy. His diagnosis was based on an MRI of the lumbar spine. I finally went to a private doctor in Washington DC while visiting my family. After a very thorough examination, an amazing neurologist thought that I likely had something pressing on my spine in the thoracic region. An MRI done that same day confirmed his diagnosis of a benign meningioma on T3/T4, requiring surgery to prevent any spinal injury. I am horrified that Dr. Mampalam can give this harried misdiagnosis and not be penalized for it.
