3 yrs ago I visited this doctor with concerning changes in my profile and concerning X-rays. I told him how my waist changed and my back changed. My X-rays showed scoliosis. He hardly listened. He spent a whomping 2 minutes with me. He could have cared less what I was saying. He just said I had no worries. Now I can’t walk because my spine kept changing. But I believed this doctor and knew of his rumored great doctor status. No he isn’t. Don’t waist your time this doctor is far past his prime.

I've been to this office 5 times, the first time i waited over 2 1/2 hours with a broken back to get seen, he was rude, told me to get an MRI wasn't caring or concerned. The 2nd time, i got to the check-in and was told he canceled and that i was called..i never received a call, i asked for a supervisor and was DENIED. The 3rd visit i got in finally in pain and was given a brace, the 4th visit he took x-rays told me to come back in a few months to see how my back is doing with the brace, i come back for my 5th visit get to the check-in counter and was yet again told they called and that the doctor is on an L.O.A. i was given the choice to wait until he comes back which could be another month or so, or see if they could get me another doctor. At this point I'm beyond angry and fed up with this doctor. Not recommended at all.

Horrible doctor, doesn’t care about helping people. Save your self a horrible experience and find someone else. The worst doctor experience I have ever witnessed.

It’s a shame I even Had to give this office one star! This has been the WORST experience of my life! This office is beyond unprofessional you NEVER get a return call even after I left 4 messages in the span of two weeks. I had An abnormal MRI that showed I needed Surgery I had Three other physicians advise me to get in to see him sooner due to the abnormalities but once I did Speak with someone she had no knowledge of even receiving the MRI or that Dr Vater reviewed it! Avoid this practice!

If I could give no stars, I would. I read other poor reviews, and I agree. You will not get a conversation with this physician about your injury or condition, he will likely walk out of the exam room within two minutes leaving you wondering what just happened. If he does speak, it will be condescending, sarcastic, and beyond arrogant. Your appointment will not be on time, you can count on waiting up to two hours, for a two minute pop in to the exam room by the doctor. Pain management is irrelevant, suck it up. You will leave with zero information, and an angry feeling of wasting your time. His surgery scheduler is a nightmare as well. She exudes anger and hostility, unfriendly is not a strong enough word for this woman, and has no interest in answering questions. I am finding a new physician immediately, don't make the same mistake I and others made. By far, the absolute worst experience I've ever had with a physician. What a poor reflection on this practice.

Awful us caution. If you truly are hurting and not an addict seek care from another doctor any doctor. Odds are it will be a much better experience. This guy's a joke that has zero respect for the patients he attempts to treat.

I went to this Dr. for an exam and review of my med history for advice of further treatment. WHAT A JOKE! I was there almost three hours! Mostly in a room by myself. I brought in every single record and film I had regarding my injury as instructed. After an hour and 45 minutes a staff member sent me for a simple xray, even though I had recent MRIs with contrast to evaluate nerves and other soft tissues. Then I was sent back to the room and waited. After another 45 min or so a man came in room and did not introduce himself?! I had to ask if it was indeed him. So, even though he was REQUIRED TO LOOK AT ALL MY MED RECORDS RELATED TO MY INJURY, HE REFUSED to do so saying that he had EVERYTHING. Yeah right! The two inches of papers was my entire complicated history, when I had to have help to bring in all my documents and films. I had enough records for four people! AND much medical care was paid for myself as work comp just denies coverage for everything! So he did NOT have all records and… WOULD NOT ACCEPT the records I brought and would not look at my films! So he was in the room approximately five minutes, only looked at current xray just taken, where you cannot see things like inflamed or damaged nerves, etc. He DID NOT DO ANY NEUROLOGICAL OR ORTHOPEDIC TESTS & SUDDENLY LEFT THE ROOM! So I am waiting again and I open door and ask down hallway whats up? The staff didnt even know I was in there! AND DR LEFT! BUT MAGICALLY AN IME REPORT APPEARS A WEEK LATER WHERE DR CLAIMS TO HAVE MEASURED ANGLES OF FLEXION & EXTENSION, HOW I WALKED, MY REFLEXES. ALL FABRICATED!! The report is a fabrication! I HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS DR BEFORE and now I know why! He probably works mostly for work comp. Drs. can make $800 for an IME, this is far more than what $$ a regular exam can bring in. And this is not the only Dr. that has done this! I ENCOURAGE ALL TO REPORT INCIDENCES LIKE THIS TO THE NV MEDICAL BOARD & INSIST SOMETHING IS DONE ABOUT IT IF IT HAPPENS TO YOU. IT IS THE ONLY WAY FOR CHANGE. Please make this effort to protect yourself if this happens to you, and do it for all the others that follow in your path. There must be INTEGRITY in our medical system. Do not accept anything less. FYI the staff was very nice.

Horrible Doctor. After an hour and a half wait Dr. Cater rushed in and asked how my pain was. When I told him it was about an 8 he said oh ok then proceeded to tell me that he sees nothing wrong on my MRI and I should go back to work. Interesting since the first time I saw him he showed me the apparatus that he would need to use for surgery to fix my bulging back not to mention that I have 4 other Dr's reports and the MRI report claiming I indeed have several bulging discs. When I asked Dr. Vater to show me the reports he said he didn't know where they were. Then proceeded to ignore my requests to know where the reports were. This guy is a JOKE. He is totally in the insurance company's pockets and doesn't care about his patients AT ALL!!!! DO NOT TRUST THIS doctor!!!

Dr. Vater was supposed to refer my husband to a neurologist. I called after 8 business days to find out why we had heard nothing, was told it could take 14 days. It has now been 2 months. Obviously we found someone else who cares about patients. Steer clear of this doctor.
