Dr. Thomas Hayden Veech, MD

I was seeing him as my PCP for some time and should of switched to someone way before all the drama with his practice started. I was on an SSRI for a few years that he put me on. Any time I would need a refill he would require me to come in for a office visit with no need for any other reason but to refill my RX. I began a constant battle with him and his staff, who would talk down to me and treat me with the lack of respect have never received at any medical practice. I got banned by him because I was I was argumentative with them and called him out on several things I felt wrong with the practice. I might think he is on the spectrum and might not have the best manners at time and I understand that, but as an adult who works with people I would consider quite rude and unprofessional.

Dr. Veech is very professional and competent. I have confidence in his ability to select the right treatment plan based on his diagnosis of your symptoms and medical history. He is an excellent physician.

This is a horrible practice that has zero regard for patient care. My pharmacy sent multiple refill requests for a medication that should not be stopped suddenly. When I called this office to find out why the pharmacy’s requests were being ignored, the receptionist said it was “probably because Dr. Veech wants to see you before refilling the prescription but I will send a message to the nurse to have her call you back.” I explained that I was 9 months pregnant and was being induced first thing Monday morning and needed a nurse to call me back ASAP. I had to call 3 times before I was finally able to speak with the rude practice manager, Sherry Powers. When I asked why no one called me to inform me my prescription would not be refilled, Sherry blatantly lied and said my pharmacy never sent in any requests; even though my pharmacy was kind enough to print a record of all of the ignored requests. When I explained that I really needed my medication refilled before the weekend as suddenly… stopping it could have dire consequences, Sherry said there was nothing she could do. After I informed her I would be coming to the office to speak to someone she threatened to call the police on a 9 months pregnant patient but agreed to call Dr. Veech to gather all available options. Sherry subsequently called me back to tell me she had spoken to Dr. Veech who was refusing to refill the medication because “he doesn’t prescribe medication for pregnant patients.” That was news to me and there was no answer as to why I wasn’t informed of this earlier. There was also no answer as to why Dr. Veech couldn’t authorize a minimal refill so that I could have my medication over the weekend until I was able to get in touch with my OB on Monday morning as her office was already closed for the day. When I arrived at Dr. Veech's office to retrieve my medical records in order to transfer to a new PCP who values patient care, Sherry informed me that I received notification that I should have had an appointment months prior. When I requested to see the documentation she showed me Dr. Veech’s internal electronic notes that I would not have been privy to. When I pointed this out to her, Sherry’s story changed to “he would’ve told you verbally.” In short, Dr. Veech and his office ignored multiple refill requests from my pharmacy, lied about receiving the requests, failed to call me or return my phone calls, refused to refill a medication that could be deadly if stopped suddenly, late on a Friday afternoon leaving me with no other options, and refused to simply authorize a small amount so that I could get through the weekend and speak to another doctor. Run away from this office immediately.

Will continually misgender you if you are not cis gendered

This is the worst doctor I have ever seen. I had used another doctor in this practice long ago, but my doctor had retired; I effectively had no primary care doctor for years, but my daughter was using the services of another doctor in this practice. I made an appointment with her. But she was not available because of an emergency, so Dr. Veech was substituted rather than make me wait. All I needed was a basic form filled out and signed urgently needed outpatient cataract surgery. The information needed could have been verified by a cursory exam and data from my old medical record there. He had another doctor (I'm guessing a student) in the examining room with him. Dr. Veech told me all the medical conferences he had attended said this pre-surgical form was not necessary. He handed it back to me, refusing to sign it. I was so shocked that I could feel my pulse rate increasing. He then told me he needed to "get to know me better" as if I were shopping for a new primary care… physician. He began asking me questions, and as I answered them, his facial expression and body language told me he thought my answers were ridiculous. He was utterly disrespectful. The longer I sat there the more worried I became. Then he took my blood pressure and of course it was through the roof, even though I donate blood regularly and had no history of hypertension. He used the one-time high reading to justify his refusal "because of uncontrolled hypertension". I was so upset that I was near tears. His refusal to fill out and sign this form based on my medical record caused me to have to postpone my surgery, which takes about a month to reschedule - another month of blindness I could barely endure. Eventually I filled out the paper myself based on my own knowledge and had it confirmed and signed after that cursory exam by a doctor at a Patient First location. I'm convinced that the one-month postponement of my surgery set in motion a chain of events which eventually resulted in the permanent loss of the vision in my left eye. This survey format requires you to check at least one star before it will post, but my rating is zero. I recommend that anyone considering using the services of this doctor run in the opposite direction.

Veech was assigned by my new insurance as my PCP, and I've never had such an uncomfortable experience with a doctor. For starters, he doesn't give you medical history forms to fill out beforehand. Instead, he will bring a student in with him during your initial consult with both of them tapping away on their keys and staring at their monitors non-stop while he goes into excruciating detail of non-relevant family medical history. Even if you are in good health with excellent blood work. Expect to repeat your history to the nurse/assistant and then to him multiple times because he doesn't listen. Expect him to make a number of false assumptions about your health and lifestyle and continue down that path. Arrogant and the most uncomfortabe experience with a doctor I ever had. Seriously, a waste of time.

I have been seeing Dr Veech since last fall. He has listened, investigated, and given me time and attention in his review of my health and my care. Kelly, the nurse who works with him, has also been very helpful, attentive, and skilled. I trust both of them and am very happy with their expertise, competence, and ability to listen and provide information.

Amazing doctor, very smart, very nice and straight forward. Feel better about my illness or visit everytime i leave.

I just started seeing Dr. Veech, but it seems as though he is very thorough .

Dr. Veech has been great to me. He listens to any concerns I may have and gives me his honest medical advice. I would definitely recommend him to other patients.
