Dr. Timothy James Durkee, MD

Terrible experience with Dr Durkee performing an in office cauterization procedure. He seemed very busy chatting to and performing for female student doctors who were present and observing the procedure, and he only communicated with me once the procedure began by shouting at me. Behaved in an arrogant manner. No calm or compassionate bedside manner. He nicked a blood vessel and had difficulty cauterizing it closed. Once home, the region continued to bleed for weeks. I called several times for advice and asked if I needed to come in for an appointment and was told it wasn’t necessary and that all was normal. Upon my last call, I was told that Dr. Durkee instructed that my next appointment would for be my yearly PAP smear the next year. No after care appointment to see if I was healing properly a few weeks after the procedure as my previous retired OBGYN would have done. I called and asked and was told Dr Durkee didn’t find it necessary. Changed to a different OBGYN, and the region… where the procedure had been done had massive scar tissue which was described as ragged. Further procedures had to be done by the new OBGYN to try to smooth the tissue so it wouldn’t tear.

I would not recommend this doctor with your life or well being. He likes to frequent strip bars in Wisconsin, parties way too much, and is rather disrespectful of his marital vows.

My first and last visit with Dr. Durkee. I found him arrogant and inappropriate. He didn't listen to my concerns, was busy bragging about himself. After my exam, he made a completely inappropriate comment about my vagina. I was humiliated.

I loved actually going to my annual Pap smear!

Dr Durkee is very confident and capable. The only complaint other than long waits at the office to see him is that he recommended a C-Section with my 2nd child (my first was vaginal) because he thought the baby might be over 9-10lbs. My child was under 9lbs and I certainly did not need a C-section. I will say that he did an amazing job. I did end up having 2 C-sections with him and was very happy with both surgeries. I just wish he hasn't strongly recommended a C-section in the first place.

Superior physician in every way

The office set up is main problem. To get an appt. you have to leave message for nuse, wait a day for call back, then wait another day for nurse to ask doctor for approval for acceptance to the doctor's practice. You are not able to switch doctors if there is a personality conflict, and clinic administrator doesn't have the decency to call you back to hear your concerns. Dr. Durkee is nice but gave me incorect diagnosis for two different problems. And like I said, other doctors not willing to accept you for a switch. You would think they would want to keep revenue in the office. Doesn't reflect we'll for Swedish American Hospital.

Great Doctor. I had to switch due to insurance changning. But he was the best doctor I have had.

Dr. Durkee is the best OBG/GYN I've ever had. He is easy to talk to and genuinly cares about his patients. He never makes you feel "rushed" to leave. He always gets back to you by phone, same day! The office staff is terrific too.

I first met Dr. Durkee after delivering my son. I was using his physician group, but had never met him. Late in my pregnancy, I ran into complications and was sent to the closest hospital to me, which was 60 miles away from Rockford. Dr. Durkee called the shots from Rockford, even when the doctors at the hospital I went to tried to send me home. The outcome of the delivery was great - with a healthy son. However, without his intervention, this would not have been the case. I will always be grateful for his help and guidance during that time!
