Dr. Timothy J Mccarren, MD

He saved my life.

I went to Dr McCarren from the time I was 18 until I was nearly 30. I was never really satisfied with his care. I always felt rushed in and out of his office and I often felt that I had been misdiagnosed. When I was 21, I had him give me my yearly pap smear and exam. He asked how long ago my last cycle was and how long they were on average. I told him they were pretty unusual and the cycles were often 60 days apart or more. Instead of suggesting that I see a specialist, he simply put me on birth control pill to "control my cycle". After telling her about this, my mother suggested I see her OB/GYN, Dr. Odell Owens. I told him the same info and he immediately started telling me all the things that could be causing it. After my exam, I was scheduled for surgery 7 days after. I was diagnosed and treated for stage 2 endometriosis. If I had trusted Dr. McCarren, this could have progressed to the point of affecting my fertility. After that, I was technically a patient of his but I… always made sure to see a different doctor in his office instead of him. Eventually, I switched practices altogether and I'm glad I did. The practice I've now been at for the last 9 years doesn't make me wait at all. Maybe 4 or 5 minutes in the lobby and less in the exam room. Compared with 30-40 minutes in the lobby at Dr.McCarren's office sometimes and at least another 15-20 or more in the exam room.

Dr. McCarren does an excellent job of listening, asking good questions, and has a very effective, intelligent way of getting his recommended course of action across to the patient. He has changed my life (my health) for the better.
