Dr. Timothy Douglas Peters, MD

My medical doctor had been treating me for quite a few years for fibromyalgia. And my medical doctor sent me to doctor Peters for a an ANA test. He said my test came back that I do not have lupus or any autoimmune disease. And didn't run any other test for further investigation. But to top it off he said that my pain was from some unconfessed sin. He knew I was a Christian and I shared with him how my faith gets me through my pain on my first appointment, he said he was a Christian too. It was at the at the end of the second appointment that was the answer that he gave me a I felt like he brushed me off with and answer like that about my faith because he didn't have an answer about my health. It took me a year to tell my family doctor what he said to me, and my family doctor told me to never go back to him. Years later I had a severe flare up and my doctor did the ANA test and I said it's just going to show that I don't have it and she said the tests have improved. Not only did I… have Lupus I had other autoimmune diseases my muscle enzymes were sky high; my muscles had been deteriorating my bones had gotten worse and by the time I got to the new rheumatologist I was in very bad shape. He said that he can help my inflammation to where I can get back to work but the damage that the lupus did to my body it cannot be reversed. He fully investigated my health as did my medical doctor who had replaced the doctor that had retired. Bone scans Etc because my numbers were off the chart and there was a lot of damage from the lupus already. Also had some lung issues from the lupus I have Pulmonary hypertension. I can understand that the test have improved I don't blame him for that. But it was inappropriate for him to tell me that my pain was from an unconfessed into my life. I was dumbfounded I was in my 40s when I went to him and it wasn't until I was 52 that I was properly diagnosed. But his words were wrong to tell a patient an answer that had nothing to do with medicine, that I can't emphasize enough the anger I felt and humiliation he gave me to tell me something like that. Shame on him and what you said is between you and God. Because you have some unconfessed sin for telling a patient something so hurtful when they live in chronic pain. I saw him over 20 years ago. And when anybody says they're going to go to a rheumatologist in ready I always say which one are you going to because I do not recommend the one I went to.

I have fibromyalgia (one of Dr. Peters listed specialties) and never felt he really helped me with that! He orders a lot of unnecessary blood tests to be done at his office. When we do them elsewhere, the office doesn't provide the proper ICD codes for insurance billing, and patients may end up responsible for paying out of pocket for the blood work! After being his patient for several years, I called today for an appointment because of a debilitating hip pain due to hip bursitis. Before, Dr. Peters had offered to do a steroid hip injection in his office for my condition. The staff checked with him, and his answer was for me to go to a walk in clinic because he was busy!!!!!

It has been a real blessing to have Dr. Timothy Peters care for my very complex health issues over the last 15 years or so. Dr. Peters has been very personable, well informed and right on target for my diagnosis and medication. The office staff is pleasant and always professional; scheduling appointments and keeping the waiting time to a minimum. I have recommended Dr. Peters to my friends and will continue to do so.

I saw Dr Peters on 9 visits and he completely misdiagnosed my arthritis and thinks that patient care is a wrong prescription with no follow up. My family doctor completely disagrees with his diagnosis and has confirmed that i do have arthritis. Dr Peters is also a poor communicator.

Office called to tell me that Dr. Peters was behind schedule. I appreciate that. When I arrived at the adjusted time, my wait was only 10-15 mins. and Dr. Peters apologized several times for being late. I never felt rushed even though I knew he had others waiting also. He actually read over all of the info I had written in the paperwork they sent me in advance and asked questions that were pertinant. He answered all questions I had, allowed me to "bounce things off of him" so that I understood and could adjust what I am doing to possibly help with pain. I feel like he really listened and offered good suggestions while ordering specific tests that will determine diagnosis.The staff is kind and professional. First visit took 3 months to get in but followup visit was scheduled at the same time as the first so that is secured. I appreciate the kidness, info and professionalism from him.
