Talk about an emergency situation well it was that and more for me. I had gone 67 years of my life with only one bone fracture in my left wrist which happened when I was playing high school volleyball until Dec 15, 2025 when I slipped on black ice and fell on my right knee and I landed on my knee cap which then shattered my patella. As it should be it was right at the holidays which meant that doctors were taking trips and working shorter days or just extremely busy with more patients than they could really handle but with the grace of God putting a friend and Dr. Ryan Pflugner in my path I was able to get the surgery I needed to repair my patella within two days of my fall. I can’t thank Dr. Pflugner, his staff, nurses and the hospital enough for making it possible for me to walk again. The journey has been hard and longer than I expected but thanks to Physical Therapy I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you Dr. Pflugner for your help and certainly for… taking me under the wing so quickly and repairing my knee cap.

Dr. Pluegner saw me in in the Er at Holy Cross Med Ctr. I was brought in by ambulance from the middle of Red River Mtn after an ATV accident. He got to me quickly, was very attentive and stuck with my case through the night trying first more cautious methods of getting me set into a soft cast to get me back home to Houston, Tx. He then opted to get me to surgery to use an external fixator to stabilize my leg for the trip. He was very honest, attentive and kept me involved in each decision. He also kept me comfortable throughout which was very welcome after such a long afternoon rescue. Once I made the long trip home to Houston in the back of a minivan I went to Dr. Brinker at Texas Orthopedics (Fondren Group). He is "the doc" for traumatic bone injuries and deformities in the highly renowned medical center her in Houston. He was happy with Pfluegner's work and let my soft tissue heal a little longer before going in for the big repair work and new fixator. I highly recommend… them both.
