Dr. Timothy Francis Witham, MD

My first appointment with Dr. Witham seemed promising, but after my surgery his lack attentiveness and complete disregard for my follow-up care after a failed back surgery was disconcerting. Witham was also cold, rude and dismissive during my appointments. I was okay with this at first, figuring as long as he knew what he was doing...after all, Hopkins Neurosurgery is ranked #1, right? What a mistake. I would encourage anyone to look to another neurosurgeon for their care.

If anyone would of told me that I would be taking my Labordoodle on our 1 hour morning romps(the highlight of my day) without having to take several breaks along the way to deal with the pain and/or to stretch my back out for a moment of relief, I would have never believed it was a possibility. Today was my one month post surgical follow-up for my laminectomy, removal of bone fragments, bone grafting and a L5-S1 fusion. No back pain. No leg pain. Total relief. It’s hard to put into words the gratitude I feel toward Dr. Timothy Witham at Johns Hopkins, a gifted surgeon and a caring person who literally gave me my quality of life back. The care I received at Johns Hopkins exceeded every expectation. I feel like doctors treat patients, but the nurses do the healing. My nurses did just that, helped me heal and were exceptional in every way. Can’t wait to go back to work, take my long early morning walks with my dog and vacation pain free!

Dr. Witham was patient, empathetic, and extremely knowledgeable. I would recommend him to friends and family.

After seeking out and trying most every option under the sun from therapies, medication, a disappointing “laser laminectomy” the cost of a king’s ransom, and anything else short of a witch doctor, I finally found a miraculous solution in the talented hands of Dr. Witham. His talented expertise, care, and surgical skills are flat-out superb. I am now back to the active life I’d lost. Don’t waste your time (& huge $$$) with boutique “laser” centers from TV like I did. I wish I’d seen him years ago. Thank you Dr. Witham!

The physician's assistant was very caring and personal, but Dr. Witham was a bit cold in demeneor.

This surgeon's inattention to detail caused permanent damage and pain. He put a screw used in fusion in the wrong place and didn't have the good sense to know it until after they closed me up. Never trust him. He doesn't care about you. You are just a piece of meat to him.

After more than 12 yrs of injections for spinal pain, one year post surgery I am 99 percent pain-free. Dr. Witham has given me my life back, just when I had given up any hope of living free of pain medicine. He does require rigorous preliminary tests and images, but don't let that discourage you. He only accepts patients for surgery who he believes he can reasonably accomplish a long-term positive outcome. If I were to have have any kind of spine pain in the future, without hesitation I would consult him again and trust his judgment as to whether he could help me. You should, too.

Dr. Witham performed a 6 point fusion on my back. After exhausting every possible physical therapy and nerve block I decided to go to him for an opinion and then to finally get the procedure! My decision was a good one for sure! Recovery was as expected exhausting! In the end; after walking a great deal; my back has never felt so good! I encourage you to talk to this great surgeon. The Johns Hopkins staff is equally good!

Dr. Witham took the time to explain why I am having the pain and the options I have to relieve the pain. He was very attentive to my concerns and addressed them with genuine sincerity being completely professional at all time.
