Dr. Tina J Horwitz, MD

Nice person, but an incompetent practice. More than two weeks trying to fix a prescription problem and not one call back to me or the pharmacy trying to authorize a refill. Unacceptable. And she is cash only for all payments... Which I have never heard of in my 53 years. I don't think she wants to be a doctor anymore.

In it for the business said so herself. Doesn't like to hear what patient has to say, very hard to get in contact with her. The people working for her are rude and the positive energy is sucked out the room. Makes you feel like your illness is your fault, gives you 4 types of medications that treat the same illness. Than you question her and she takes offense to it. You figure her out, and see what you went in there for. Your worst than when first starting going to her. She is not a good doctor and forgot why she become a Doctor in the first place. STAY AWAY FROM DR. TINA HORWITZ OF LOWELL MASS

Dr. Horwitz takes as much time as you need during appointments. She looks at you and listens to you. Her head is not constantly down typing into her laptop like some doctors do during appointments. I never feel rushed. Her protocol for RA is to prescribe the medication with the least amount of side effects at the lowest dose possible to see if this works. If not, she will change the dose or medication. She adds medications to see if those work. The expensive drugs with the most side effects are used if all else fails and if the patient agrees to it. I do a lot of research online (college of rheumatology and the arthritis foundation) and she follows what they recommend regarding medication (i.e. double and triple DMARD drug therapy). It is important for patients to understand their disease and to always ask questions during the appointment. You must work with your doctor and agree on your treatment. Overall I am happy with Dr. Horwitz. I wish that she had a patient portal where patients… could request prescription refills. My only negative comment is requesting refills can take a week so I must plan ahead. She has no assistant or nurse on staff.

I was never on any meds prior to going to Dr. Horwitz. She then put me on strong pain meds and then called me an addict. When she prescribed them. When I questioned her she dumped me and refused to see me. She was giving me so many medications and some were for the same thing and I was on 3 of them like that. I would be in the room no longer then 5 mins. In and out. She loves her money not her patients. Patients that need help and sick but that does not matter to her. It's her pockets she fills. It's a business. She has no right bone in her body, she likes to judge people and her job is to help you feel or get better. I got worst. She drugged me, called me an addict, used me as drug experiments and then when I was catching on she dumped me. Refused to see me. Her staff was horrible, rude. Place very dusty, old chairs, and that's not healthy for sick patients. As a doctor in my opinion you should love what you do and want to help others get better. She only cared for her money and… prescribing medications even if you didn't need them. Doctors help you get better not sicker and then dump you. It's just not right to do. Immorally incorrect! Dr. Horwitz is wrong and shouldn't have people lives in her hands. She is not a doctor who cares and shouldn't make you sicker then what you went in. Then just dump you, and refuse to see you. That's not what a Real Doctor does!

The doctor diagnosed me but was unable to,follow throufh with instructions she gave me. Stated sdhe sent prior auths to bcbs for a new and hard to get script. 1st said she did and bcbs said she didnt send. Second time it was sent but with typo for dosage so n o t approved. Third time she said she did it right then and there and said to call her oncall number if still not approved. I did that and she never called me as she said she would. I then decided to get a new rheumatologist and the new dr sent medical record requests and never recieved the records. Office staffperson states they were sent and now i have to go pick up in person to get them there. Never use this extremely unprofessional unreliable medical provider

Dr Horwitz was great at accurately diagnosing my RA. Try to get her to follow up on anything including filling the drugs she prescribes. Her office staff turns over quite often and look very unhappy. I had to find another doctor who was more caring and attentive.
