Dr. Tina Tinyi Shih, MD

This woman ruined my life. I was tested for non-epileptic seizures and they were deemed authentic. Dr Shih reversed that diagnosis then decided to make a complex psychiatric diagnosis that I was a narcissistic pathological liar and fake medical problems to avoid responsibility. Proper medical care is now impossible and I was involuntarily committed for faking and delusions I have non-epileptic seizures and catatonia

When I changed my insurance I was told by many that UCSF had some of the best Neurologists in the country and I should transfer there. They were not wrong. I have been struggling with medication resistant epilepsy for over three and a half years. When I met with Dr. Shih I was hopeless. The list of medications, combinations tried, negative side effects, went on and on. Unlike me, she was not deterred. She jumped into action with a solid plan and next steps on how we could find a solution. She was familiar with cases like mine and, what's more, she had so much empathy for what I was going through, unlike some of the previous doctors I had dealt with. Today I am thrilled to report that, not only were they able to identify the root cause of my seizures: cortical dysplasia and a low grade tumor in the right temporal lobe, identified via MRI and video monitored EEG, but the tissue has been successfully removed. I am now over two months seizure and seizure activity free and going strong… for the first time in so many years. Without Dr. Shih as my advocate and support I would not be where I am today. She is always there for me to answer questions and set up periodic check ins to see how I am doing. I will forever be glad that I made the decision to switch to UCSF and Dr. Shih and I strongly recommend you do the same.
