Dr. Tom H Cushing, MD

I have had pain for the past decade-or-so, and didn’t expect too much from my appointment with Dr. Cushing. I have seen so many doctors, specialists, etc. in the past several years and have been largely unimpressed with many of them (regardless of whether they offered possible solutions). However, I was pleasantly surprised at how personable Dr. Cushing was. After talking with me for quite a while, addressing my concerns/questions and suggesting advice for next steps, he apologized for not being able to help me more. He acknowledged that I was “sitting here in a lot of pain” and that he had no answers and that it “isn’t okay.” I was so shocked at his compassion (something I’ve not experienced from many medical professionals, if any) that I started to cry, and I thanked him for acknowledging that, but reassured him that his advice and guidance had been helpful. He was not only informed and knowledgeable, but he took the time to explain things and answer my questions – I didn’t feel… rushed or dismissed at any point. He even suggested other tests to ensure nothing more serious was going on. I wish, for the sake of all patients of all types, that all doctors were like this!

as previous review very well stated, he's "rude and arrogant" and I'd like to add "dismissive, cocky, insensitive, unprofessional, narrow minded"...worst part, doesn't consider childs fears/feelings during office visit, also contradicts himself but don't ask for clarity, you won't get it

Dr. Cushing was rude and disrespectful. I explained that my doctors had requested a specific test to be administered. He stated that he didn't believe in this test because he had just read an article the day before stating it was not helpful. I asked if I had been to his office last week if he would have administered the requested test. He said that he would have. He was just beyond rude and tried to belittle me. I felt as though I had put a lot of emphasis on this appointment and had hoped for answers. I hand since and the test run paying out of pocket and it shows serious complications. I feel that all of this could have been avoided had he just requested a $100 test. I've discussed his behavior with several friends with similar genetic issues who have been to see him and have experienced very similar situations. He even went as far as to misdiagnos a child. That's the absolute worst! I couldn't even pretend that after waiting two hours (my appointment was at 8:00 am. I arrived at… 7:45 and he didn't bother to show up until 9:45 with no apology) that I could tolerate his sanctimonious attitude so I walked out on the appointment. I don't care what comes up in the future, I will NEVER see this quack again!
