Dr. Tom Obertynski, MD

i am a medical professional and went for evaluation when i had to stop seeing my previous ophthalmologist who diagnosed me with glaucoma. I saw him twice. Based on previous testing I was told I had partial vision loss and I reported to him a blind spot in my vision. He insisted I had no vision loss based on one test and smirked as he brushed me off. He seemed to think I was imagining my problems. I went to a glaucoma specialist at UMich Kellogg and it was confirmed I did indeed have vision loss right where I reported it to be. Perhaps the wrong test results were place in my record but he didn't question his conclusion, only mine. I would not recommend him. I could have lost total vision if i had listened to him. Scary.

Very caring human being!

I was referred by another doctor to Dr. Obertynski because I had lost most of my sight in my left eye due to glaucoma, two Dr.'s said it was nerve damage and could not be reversed. Dr. Obertynski preformed surgery and now I have some vision. He is not only a wonderful Doctor, but such a nice person that always made me feel comfortable and with his jolly attitude my visits were a pleasure. His knowledge is remarkable, I give him 10 stars. He is a busy man, but well worth the wait!!

Great doctpr, great staff. Caed my fears.

Dr. "Tom", as I refer to him, has a caring, warm and friendly bedside manner. Unlike so many of the doctors I see, he has no accent and I can understand his explanations very clearly thanks to the way he simplifies things. I was in pain and having trouble seeing. He accurately diagnosed my condition and effectively treated me in just a few days! I have had no recurrence of the problem to date! His passion for his work was evident on both my visits.

I am extremely pleased with the care I received from Dr. Obertynski! I have bad doctor anxiety and he was able to make me feel very comfortable! Hes professional but at the sametime very caring and very good at what he does. It's rare that I trust any doctor no matter what the specialty and he gained it. I highly recommend and I will continue to see him!

Dr. Obertynski managed my end stage glaucoma. That means there is nothing left to do and it is the end. He managed me so that i did not lose any more vision. He kept careful control of my glauomca, and because of him, i have gettting around vision. i have not lost what i had, and for this, i am eternally grateful.

I went to see Dr. Obertynski for my cataracts. His staff got me into the office quickly. His manner, explanations, and overall care could not have been better!! He explained exactly what was going on, what was going to happen, and how long the recovery would be. He was very kind and full of information! I've since recommended him to my friends, some of which have glaucoma(which he also treats) and they have been satisfied with him as well. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a phenomenal cataract/glaucoma specialist.
