Dr. Tomas Nemickas, MD

I have my shoulder and knee done over 20 years ago and I feel great. I travel over an hour to see him for any issues.

I broke my ankle several years ago and Dr.N was my doctor to repair it. During surgery he was convinced there was a floating bone in the back of my heal but they could not find it/get a good image... two days after surgery they did scans and DID find a small floating bone... his intuition was correct and could have gone unnoticed. My healing/scars is barely noticeable and I had/have never had any issues with my foot. He also has a random funny sense of humor which helps lighten the mood

When a patient needs an order called into another medical facility for an MRI their doctor or surgeon's office should do so in a timely manner. The patient should not have to call more than three times to get an order for an MRI and in the end the order never gets submitted by the surgeon. After all the inconvenience placed on the patient by the surgeon, the surgeon should waive a $55 amount left over after insurance payments processed. Doctor's are supposed to be above reproach and be willing to admit when they themselves or their staff drop the ball.

Dr. Nemickas surprised me, he was WONDERFUL! He was smart, kind but he actually took time to talk to me, not AT me, but to and with me.He seemed very smart and very knowledgeable about my problem, and after almost a year with this other Dr. I did not like found the problem the other doctor did not see in MRI. I feel it will be taken care of properly now, but will insist on him doing the surgery or it's no go.

I've had two rotator cuff surgeries performed by Dr. Tomas Nemickas of Illinois Bone and Joint. The first was done about eight years ago on my right shoulder. The shoulder was so bad that I couldn't lift my right arm without help from the other hand. I was a baseball pitcher in high school and college and the shoulder was totally shot. Five months later, because of VERY successful surgery by Dr. Nemickas, I was playing competitive tennis again. My serve and shoulder were better than it had been since I was a child. I didn't experience much pain after surgery either...the only problem wasthe claustrophobic feeling of having my shoulder plastered to my chest with the specially made sling. Five months ago, I had my left rotator cuff operated on by Dr. Nemickas. The shoulder had two large tears in different places and was a total mess. It was so bad, Dr. Nemickas didn't think it would ever get better than 85% range of motion. Today, at the five month anniversary of the… surgery, I swam a mile of freestyle at 85% max speed. I just started lifting light weights and feel confident my shoulder will have 100% range of motion within the next couple of months. I think enough of Dr, Nemickas expertise (and his staff especially Amanda Stonebeck) that I was willing to travel from Indianapolis (where I currently live) to Lake Forest, Illinois to have the surgery. I went home the same night. The only negative about the surgery was the "block" the anesthesiologist put in my shoulder before the surgery. I have asthma and I had difficulty breathing when I woke up from surgery. I also had considerably more pain from the latest surgery for the first couple of weeks compared with the first. Dr Nemickas also performed successful knee surgery on my wife Lori. She's an avid tennis player and her knee performs well now. If you are considering knee, or shoulder surgery I highly recommend Dr. Nemickas and his great staff.

I had knee and shoulder surgery done by him and following the surgery, I was still able to play college football for 3 years. 10 years later I'm still feeling good. Great guy highly recommended...

I suffered a traumatic injury to my lower leg and it was amputated below the knee by another doctor. I had so much pain I couldn't use a prosthetic leg. I heard about Dr. Nemickas from a former patient of his. He is one of few doctors that does the Ertl procedure. Now I am pain free and can use my prosthesis. I can move on with my life now. My other doctor told me I had to live with the pain.
