Dr. Toni Ruth Golen, MD

Very disappointed with Dr. Golen’s care, or rather, lack there of. Prior to being seen by Dr. Golen, I had a miscarriage and was diagnosed with PCOS. I sought out Dr. Golen For her credentials and especially because she had PCOS listed as her one of her specialities. Dr. Golen was very impersonal during my entire pregnancy and did not care about my overall health. I ask her several times how to cope with PCOS both during and after my pregnancy. Dr. Golen did not provide any medical advice or recommendations. When I shared my concerns about my what seemed like excessive weight gain during my pregnancy she again had no recommendation or care. Thankfully I gave birth to a healthy baby but when I went to my postpartum appointment she prescribed me combination birth control, which is not recommended to breastfeeding mothers. Sure enough the birth control contributed to an extreme reduction in my milk supply. I called her office for help/to make a follow up appointment and she didn’t get in… touch with me until a month later. Sure enough by then, my milk supply was completely gone and nothing I tried restored it. Her bedside manner and staff are sub par, which is very surprising considering the affiliation with Harvard.

Dr. Golen was amazing and supportive when I suffered a miscarriage and then supported me and my husband during a healthy pregnancy and post-partum. She is a dedicated professional who deeply cares about her patients. I wish doctors like Dr. Golen are recognized and given time in their practice to devote to education of new physicians. I am grateful for her unwavering support during my sad and happy times.

I’ve been going to Dr Golen (who prefers to be called Toni) for 6 years. She’s assisted in both of my high risk & complicated pregnancies. She takes her time and makes her patients feel at ease. She was with me and my little ones every step of the way. Wouldn’t trade her for anything.
