Dr. Tony Reid Goodbar, MD

Did not inform me about lowering my dosage and had prescribed me a benzodiazepine for years and suddenly lowered dosage. This doctor listens to you and then throws whatever medication at you and doesn’t warn you about long term usage then after long term usage will suddenly lower you when you are not ready for that yet. Due to hipaa regulations it is impossible to get more so i will be dealing with more withdrawals again. Thanks Dr. Goodbar!

Dr Goodbar is the worst doctor I’ve ever met. My adolescent daughter started seeing him recently and he has always been extremely cold hearted and has always had terrible bed side manner. He also endangered his patient and ignored her needs. He is dismissive and has a terrible attitude. He also put my daughter in danger when she called the office to let them know she would be 5 MINUTES late to her 1 HOUR long appointment by telling her if she was 1 MINUTE LATE he would not see her that she better hurry through traffic (he is telling this to a brand new driver) she has never been late to any appointments before. I was already at the office when she called to say she was running 5 mins late and he would not speak to me because she was going to be late. The staff is just as rude and hateful and are very disrespectful. They have never been friendly and are ridiculously hard to reach when trying to schedule an appointment or call for assistance. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from… this office and find a real doctor who cares about their patients… because he’s not it.

I have been Dr. Goodbar's patient for over 10 years. He has seen me through thick and thin. I would highly recommend him. His management of my medications has been great. I also see a therapist in the same office with whom I have been very pleased. Dr. Goodbar and my therapist work well together and provide me with the complete care my mental health issues require. His wait time is minimal. I usually wait less than 10 minutes. I am able to get in to see him quickly. His staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

I titled my comments as I did because of the following: 1.) For those who called Dr Goodbar Cold and or Indifferent need to realize this is not 1950. The treatment of mental illness or disorders changed from Psychotherapy to Pharmotherapy many years ago. Go see a psychologist if you want to lay on a couch for and hour and get all your issues discussed for about 4 times the cost of a visit with Dr. Goodbar. 2.) When he asks you how has your medicine been working, at that very moment if you’re paying attention you will notice he has the most attentive and caring look into to your eyes peering for your answer. If you say it’s not working the same anymore, I think he will give some options. 3.) There are way more people in the times we live in than with mental illness than most people can imagine. Yet fewer and fewer psychiatrists that have a private practice. Therefore the ones like Dr. Goodbar are inundated with patients they are trying to help. their office visits have to brief… if possible. I left Dr. Goodbar’s today around 5:15 pm. There were like 10 more people waiting to see him. I’m. Sure when I got home and was watching the news relaxing Dr. Goodbar was still seeing patients. 4.) For all you reviewers talking its about money, think about it, Dr. Goodbar has been practicing pyschiatry for over 30 years. I would not think he’s working late hours because he needs the money, but because he’s trying to help as many people as he can. 5.) Dr. Goodbar is the 3rd Psychiatrist I have had in the past 35 years the prior two whom have retired were two of the top rated ones in this country. Guess what after the initial visit with each my average visit time was 15 minutes max usually less. 6.) Lastly most of us with mental disorders sometimes think we’re the only ones with a problem. Do we ever think about the Dr. and issues he has to deal with everyday and the stress that comes with trying to get the right meds and doses for patient after patient for hours on end. Lastly I’m thankful to have an experienced Man like Dr. Goodbar as my doctor. As a manager of personnel for 41 years I consider myself a very good reader of people, and what I see in Dr. Goodbar is a really humble , caring and compassionate man whom is doing his best to help as many people overcome their issues as he can. For those who write the really negative reviews you can always find another Dr. you know. One word of advise, sometimes you don’t know what you have to you lose it. God bless you Dr Goodbar.

Though he seems knowledgeable, Dr. Goodbar doesn't value his patients opinion. He spends five minutes with you, and you are out the door. It took nine months to get a change in my treatment plan often repeatedly telling him it needed to be amended. Doesn't listen to what you actually have to say. Might as well have painted on ears.

He speaks with the parents and then speaks to the child. My child was at ease and looks forward to going back to his office.

Dr Goodbar has been seeing my son for the last 12 years. My son loves him and has always been comfortable with him. He listens to my son, his teachers input as well as my husband and I. My son has made immeasurable progress thanks to Dr Goodbar.

Outside of Doctor Goodbar the staff is fine. It's easy to get an appointment and they are understanding if I am unable to make an appointment. Doctor Goodbar himself is little more than a pill pusher. In my initial visit he seemed caring and like he genuinely wanted help. Unfortunately after this I began to see him for what he was. I suffer from severe panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, ADHD, Depression, and agoraphobia. Despite this our appointments only last around 3-5 minutes on average. A typical visit consists of him asking you how the prescribed medication is working and then he sends you out the door with another prescription. Telling you to come back in 3 months. He shows no interest in actually helping me despite me telling him that my conditions have worsened to the point where I am completely unable to function normally. All he cares about is squeezing in as many patients as possible for maximum profit. This may explain the short wait times. Do not… waste your time with this man.

I agree with some other reviews that Dr. Goodbar is outwardly friendly but doesn't go deep with helping the condition. Maybe just all psychiatrists just push meds. It seems anyone could just Google their conditions and find the meds to use. Why pay a doctor $50 for 15 minutes of his time?

After several visits with Dr. Goodbar, I am certain he couldn't even pick me out of a line-up. He never had eye contact with me or even glanced in my direction. His staff is rude. Very rude. I was rushed in and out every time. No wonder there's a short wait time!!!
