Dr. Treta Purohit, MD

I had an appointment with Dr. Purohit today. I waited one month for this appointment and drove more than 45 mins to get there, only to see a doctor who had a very insensitive attitude towards my condition. She took no time to learn about my symptoms, the appointment felt so rushed and made me feel like I was imagining my symptoms. Randomly mentioned cancer 5 times when I wasn't even thinking about that. I already told doctor that I had taken a certain medication for a few weeks and saw no difference in symptoms and she prescribed me the same medication of the same dosage again. And now I have to wait another 2 months to get an endoscopy done. Please avoid this doctor and see someone else. There’s other reviews with the same feedback for this doctor, you would be better off waiting for another doctor that cares.

In my experience, you cannot trust Dr. Pirohit. I usually do not leave reviews but I feel like I need to warn fellow patients. Beware. Initially, during the consultation, all seemed well. I asked Dr. Pirohit for an anesthesiologist to administer unconscious sedation via propofol. I did not want to be awake and explained a pre-existing condition which left me sensitive to pain. Dr. Pirohit agreed to the unconscious sedation, said I would have to pay more for the anesthesiologist which I agreed to, but apparently my wishes were not noted. At the colonoscopy appointment, the nurse told me I would be receiving twilight sedation, not unconscious with propofol as agreed upon in the consultation with Dr. Pirohit. I later learned the anesthesiologist cancelled the night before (not the issue, not fun but cancellations happen). Instead of calling me to notify me to reschedule, Dr. Pirohit took it upon herself to switch me to a light, conscious, twilight anesthesia without my consent. … I left and did not receive the colonoscopy as this was not what I agreed to. If Dr. Pirohit or the afterhours staff had the courtesy to call when the anesthesiologist cancelled, I could have stopped my prep and canceled my ride across town to the colonoscopy. When deciding upon your medical care, know that Dr. Pirohit has no problem disregarding your stated wishes (conscious/unconscious) and not communicating a major change such as an anesthesiologist cancellation. Later, she called and half-heartedly apologized saying that she had decided the best course of action for her patient (me). Clearly, it was not the best nor agreed upon course of action for me, as explicitly expressed in the consultation, although it may have been convenient for her. So, what was the point of the consultation if your medical history and agreed upon course of care is disregarded? What a complete waste of time, money, and energy.
